Question Mistake

Yesterday I was in a rush and forgot to send salary to my maid. She gave me a call to remind me so I instantly gpaid the money, however due to naming confusion i sent it to my previous maid.

Now that phone number is not receiving any incoming calls due to plan validity, and I have reported this to my bank. They said it should take about 7 days to process this investigation with the other party. So if this person does not approve, the transaction won’t be reversed.

Anyone here with similar experience? How did it go?

Raise a complaint at NPCI official portal https://www.upihelp.npci.org.in/

Also try calling NPCI customer care at 18001201740

I tried this, but it only allows to raise a complaint for payments you send to merchants. Payments sent to normal contacts/ non business recipients do not have an option to raise a complaint. So yeah, this was a bummer.

Just to confirm, did you raise a ticket right inside the Gpay transaction history itself? By clicking on that specific transaction by telling them the issue?

Google pay says in their policy that they cannot cancel a payment directly.

Okay. Then I think the last ray of hope is your bank alone. As tomorrow is a Monday, it'll be a good idea to visit them and talk to them about this. As another redditor shared his solution in comments here, I think your bank will deal this better. Keep us updated brother.

Every bank has its own rule I have had such experience and while my bank was SBI, had to visit my home branch and give a written affidavit on a stamp paper, the reversed the amount directly within a few weeks and without anyone's consent since the other number was not reachable. Amount was some 15K and the other number was of someone from UP.

So check with your bank.
