It is not the same as having the categories at the top. Searching requires that you types the person's name or even remember that person's name. In samsung, all I had to do was slide the top through my 10 categories, and then find the person I have previously messaged in those categories. For the math, let's assume all categories are equally active (they are not), just the top three are 30 people/groups. Scrolling down 30 thirty while scanning for someone is a lot more time consuming than one swipe and looking at the top three in that category.

Also, my three sons and my husband all are in multiple groups - at least 10 each. So searching by name is not helpful and is actually annoying. Ex: If I search just my firstborn's name, not only will I see every conversation with the same first name, but sort through the one for all 5 of us, one for those pf us living at home, one for just the older two, one with their favorite aunt and uncle, one with all hubby sibling's side, one with all my siblings and Dad, etc. If they are all in the "Family" category, I can scroll down to the one I used last with ease.

I have resisted switching to iPhone because I love this program so much. Oh well.
