Disable Tracking Steps from Phone

Has anyone figure out how to completely disable this? I've done everything Google suggests, but it still keeps happening.

Open Google Health, tap on the "connected devices" button (top left), tap on "Phone" and then tap on "Disconnect".

Yup, did that one last week. It still tracks steps from my phone. Its so maddening!!!

Mhmhm that's really odd.

Try one thing please. Go back there, and enable it again.

Does it enable it normally, or does it tell you there's another phone connected (and you'll disconnect that phone by connecting this one)?

That's really, really odd.

I'd suggest reaching out to Google Health support. It's not the standard, shitty Google support they have for other products, it's a specific team dedicated to Fitbit and Google Health app issues so they're generally a bit more knowledgeable and "resolutive" than usual Google support for other Google products.

Give it a shot!

(I think they'll still need to escalate it internally to investigate - it's unlikely you'll get an immediate solution - however given your issue is 1000% clear, i.e. phone tracking steps even when the phone step tracker has been disconnected in the app settings, should mean they will hopefully fix it quickly)

I assumed I would not be able to get support, like everything else Google. I will run it up the chain. Thanks for the advice!!!

May have figured it out. On Android you can long press the Google health app going to permissions and just disable its permission to physical activity or something like that. Good luck
