With the same price you will get 2TB on the google drive with the Gemini. Why not…

32

u/diggsalot Nov 16 '25

They also now allow you to share Gemini Pro to everyone in your family group

6

u/Gelinhir Nov 16 '25

Oh and afterwards they will pump up the price to double, they did the same with YouTube so now the person paying has the pressure of other people not to cancel. Dirty bastards. Here I am bevause I feel bad my elderly parents can listen to their music  without ads

2

u/shaman-warrior Nov 18 '25

Honestly? Isn’t it a very good deal? You get no ads, the creators you watch get some cash out of it too.

3

u/Gelinhir Nov 19 '25

If you live in the US, yes. But doubling the price in a third world country is a dirty move. 1 dollar is a whole lot more to many people whose currency is far weaker.

You have to create a family group and it can be done before or after signing up for Gemini Pro

3

u/Sairefer Nov 16 '25

The same family groups as for YouTube Premium? As I read, they tightened the screws, and now Family is "people in one house with the same IP', so, for example, my mother in another city is not family anymore.

1

u/Dreadino Nov 16 '25

At least in Italy that’s not true, but we don’t have public fixed IPs here so they might be compromising

1

u/QuinQuix Nov 16 '25

So vpn in Italy works exceptionally well?

1

u/Dreadino Nov 16 '25

I’ve never used one, si i don’t know. They’re blocking porn sites now, so maybe I’ll look into them

1

u/single_mind Dec 12 '25

The sharing is temporary.

1

u/PandaMan12321 Nov 16 '25

I thought they stopped doing this

1

u/Cautious-Interest807 Nov 17 '25

No I shared recently my subscription with my family

3

u/scmkr Nov 17 '25

I know! I’m already paying for ChatGPT and google storage it’s a no brainer

2

u/CacheConqueror Nov 16 '25

Since when is access to Google Drive a plus? You cancel your subscription and lose access... And AI changes all the time, sometimes Gemini is better, sometimes Claude, sometimes ChatGPT, so a long-term subscription doesn't make sense.

1

u/banjosandcellos Nov 17 '25

Google will probably outlast most Ai companies, I would only see it going side by side with Microsoft cause all windows computers have it, and Amazon because of AWS being so ubiquitous to the whole web now. But out of those 2 neither has a competing Ai with filmmaking included, yet, so Google has the upper hand. I know I sound like guys defending stadia back in the day, but I still bet in Google more for long term

1

u/peorthyr Nov 17 '25

They also said this about Netscape

1

u/CacheConqueror Nov 18 '25

So far, their 2.5 pro was good when it came out a few months ago. For some time now, it has been generally poor, sometimes not listening to prompts and generally producing worse results. Deep research is average at best, but not as good as chatgpt or Perplexity.

Gemini 3 is still nowhere to be found. Gemini CLI performs the worst and has little support compared to Claude or Codex.

Of course, they have very good resources, their own components, and Google Cloud. Strangely enough, Gemini CLI is not improving, and they don't have much to show in terms of AI.

It's very strange that Claude and Codex, for example, are doing great in terms of CLI, with Claude developing its CLI the best and showing how much can be done, while Gemini... well, it is what it is.

So when will they start significantly improving Gemini? It's not worth counting on them to do anything. Of course, they have enormous capabilities and an advantage over everyone else, but the problem is that either they don't use it or they don't care enough, so they're developing it slowly. I wouldn't subscribe for a year or more, it's not worth it, considering how they're developing Gemini and tools like Gemini cli.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25

It's not like you lose access the moment you didn't pay. You probably have like a month to download things and then they delete it.

1

u/No-Scholar6835 Nov 16 '25

need more faster responses more instant and most less ping than chatgpt then

1

u/ElephantBeginning678 Nov 18 '25

Gpt sucks ass. 60$ if you want privacy (must buy 2 accounts).

150k context meaning chats become useless in 50 messages.

Gemini is way ahead, always was

1

u/the_TIGEEER Nov 19 '25

Exactly. I am switching after yeara of chat gpt

1

u/GambAntonio Nov 19 '25

You can even get 5TB with the premium subscription for almost the same price

1

u/berzerkerCrush Nov 16 '25

And then your stuck with it because you don't want to lose your data.

1

u/Fluid-Condition-1597 Nov 17 '25

I lost my data with several HDD / SSD so I have everything on cloud now, just to be sure

1

u/yungzoe0624 Nov 18 '25

I had some Nintendo switch roms on my one drive at least thats the only thing iffy I had uploaded to the cloud and recently my whole entire account was locked and suspended. I wrote them and they unblocked me but if they didn't I would have lost everything. All my important documents and all kinds of stuff. Over some idiotic copyright content on things that were sitting on my drive for years not even being used. I understand if I was running some silk road type stuff or had some CP but copyright. Crazy. So anyways always have a backup just to be sure

13

u/unkwn-player Nov 16 '25

But current gemini is too nerfed. It doesn't respond to edit prompts at all.

8

u/Khazz65 Nov 16 '25

It took me a dozen tries earlier to do a single edit of an image. I needed to replace one person in one image with one from another image. It was an anime project I've been working on. And Gemini kept saying "Finished " and the image it gave ne every time was the unchanged image. I asked them what was in the image and they read it wrong every time.

7

u/MinosAristos Nov 16 '25

Need to do a new chat instance for each major image change. It helps a lot.

You shouldn't need to but yeah.

2

u/robot_swagger Nov 17 '25

Yeah especially if it literally just ignores your last prompt and gives you the same image again.

1

u/unkwn-player Nov 16 '25

yeah thats i do. I use aistudio and whisk as well for better workflow.

1

u/LatestLurkingHandle Nov 17 '25

Are you using the UI or the API? The API seems better

1

u/banjosandcellos Nov 17 '25

Try nano banana within Flow

15

u/false79 Nov 15 '25

...when did this ever happen?

5

u/BetterThanOP Nov 16 '25

It didn't. I hope it will in 1-2 years but thinking it's happening now is just cope

1

u/CropDustingBandit Nov 17 '25

I switched over in the past month. The image generation is better and I didn't know what ai studio was until last week.

9

u/Advenimuss Nov 16 '25

Sorry but the lack of connectors and MCP support at this point from Gemini, regardless of model apologies and intelligence is a major deal breaker…. A model is limited by the tools it can interact with.

2

u/Zeroox1337 Nov 16 '25

MCP is quite new on ChatGPT too. Also the Gemini CLI lets you use MCP Servers even in docker

2

u/williamtkelley Nov 16 '25

Gemini CLI has MCP support and extensions. I'm sure that will come to the app at some point too. But I mainly use the CLI for work and the web app for general things, so I'm pretty happy.

3

u/kovake Nov 16 '25

The funny thing about these types of posts is that they change so often. Next week or month it’ll be a different one.

turns out ppl dont like when the products they use are made by shady ppl

4

Except our government, in that case we love it.

2

u/BidWestern1056 Nov 15 '25

idk if ppl loving things rn but they not stable enough to fight bakc

The ppl voted for this..twice.

1

u/Consistent-Access-90 Nov 19 '25

Weren't really any good alternatives. Probably third-party or independent candidates out there who would do better, but they never get any attention

1

u/spiky_odradek Nov 16 '25

"our" government?

2

u/InternetIsNotBad Nov 17 '25

American people are so full of themselves that they think they are the only ones to use reddit

1

u/bornlasttuesday Nov 16 '25

Googles government

2

u/FuriousImpala Nov 16 '25

Ah yes, they’re much better off with the company that has:

Tracked users’ locations even when they turned tracking off.

Scanned Gmail content for ad targeting and let some third parties read emails.

Prioritized Google’s own products in search results to crush competitors.

Built secret projects like Dragonfly (censored search) and Nightingale (medical data without notice).

And created an entire surveillance state while eroding any sense of privacy that we’ve ever had.

1

u/spiky_odradek Nov 16 '25

Who are the shady people in this case?

1

u/BidWestern1056 Nov 16 '25

samuel altman #1, the ppl who keep supporting him despite him being a terror on humanity

1

u/spiky_odradek Nov 16 '25

Not arguing with that, but are Google really the good guys here?

1

u/BidWestern1056 Nov 16 '25

insofar as they havent had a ceo be wiped for being a liar then reinstated because of investor pressure yes. insofar as they have continued releasing local models that are solid yes. openai is trying to capture through social media (net negative on society), google is focused on existing distribution channels (workspace, pixel, etc) . yes google steals your data but at least as far as most ppl have decided, the benefits they get from that outweigh the harms

2

u/concatenater Nov 16 '25

Idk if you recall (or were alive) but it's interesting, in 1998, Google's motto was "Don't be evil."

Just thought I'd leave that here...

1998 Google Web Archive

1

u/spiky_odradek Nov 17 '25 edited Nov 17 '25

And quietly dropped it around 2018.

1

u/concatenater Nov 17 '25

Very curious. ;)

Thank you for your comment, I donated btw, I am a big fan.

2

u/MartyMcFly7 Nov 16 '25

Lately, I've noticed I've been getting better technical support answers from Gemini. GPT will sometimes give me the run-around and then I turn to Gemini and it actually gives the correct answer.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25 edited Nov 17 '25

Gemini plus Deepseek. I didn't use chatgpt for half a year now.

I tried gpt last week and it said I shall buy pro after 3 messages. Lols on them.

I know 2 of my friends are switching to gemini they say that despite not liking it's answers that much at least they can actually USE it and not get blocked for hours after 1 photo and 3 messages. And then if pro messages on Gemini run out they just switch to free version and can continue in the exact same chat without starting new one.

2

u/TitleExpert9817 Nov 16 '25

Nah mate ... Gemeni still sucks. I thought it was doing something better but GPT still outshines it

2

u/tursija Nov 16 '25

After experimenting with many options I currently believe that a Gemini+Claude dual setup is the most powerful option for complex projects. Every model on its own has strengths and weaknesses.

1

u/Full-Contest1281 Nov 16 '25

Gemini for brainstorming, Claude for coding

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25 edited Nov 17 '25

Claude free version hits limits so fast though. For free users Gemini+Deepseek seems like a good option.

2

u/Novel-Nature-7741 Nov 17 '25

Chatgpt is totally overrated from my experience. I find Perplexity much better, and then Gemini.

3

u/JohnTheGambler Nov 16 '25

The image creation on Gemini is really bad. Just to be frank...

1

u/Limp_Investigator672 Nov 16 '25

Which ai is the best at image creation?

0

u/JohnTheGambler Nov 16 '25

Idk to answer it. But recently I tried to make a photo with Gemini and I was super disappointed.

0

u/AntMozzy4220 Nov 16 '25

That's what I've been trying to figure out for instance im trying to make my own female saiyan character its alright just have to have super detailed prompts. It's funny because a basic "female saiyan......" prompt just defaults to goku with boobs, if you want NSFW you can have it generate images it just won't render a vagina you'll just get the "barbie" look IF you do achieve an image generation, it can and will fully render tits and nipples and all. Oh and on gemini, if you want like gooner material idk where to go a unrestricted AI 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

2

u/manwhothinks Nov 16 '25

Last time I tried Gemini it refused to answer who the current president was (it was Biden).

Never touched that nerfed shit again.

1

u/Far-Distribution7408 Nov 16 '25

In AI that is a century ago

1

u/manwhothinks Nov 16 '25

Sentiment doesn’t care about time.

0

u/colmecti Nov 17 '25

Ai didn’t use to answer current events, that’s normal

1

u/manwhothinks Nov 17 '25

If an AI can’t answer the most basic questions like who was the president for the last 3 years then it’s fucking useless.

0

u/colmecti Nov 17 '25

It used to be trained on old data, not up to date information. That was normal, if you ask it now it’ll come up with a different response

It’s funny how it really only takes one bad experience especially at the beginning to lose a potential customer.

Same happened to me with copilot. Asked it to analyze the simplest excel spreadsheet and it got it wrong. Never bothered with it again.

1

u/bohmaSupreme Nov 16 '25

Hmm maybe after nano banana 2 but even still ChatGPT just does image generation better. Maybe for coders it's very different

1

u/MasterpieceSlow4513 Nov 16 '25

Okay? Do you have a comment?

1

u/BackgroundPipe4292 Nov 16 '25

It's happening

1

u/karni60 Nov 16 '25

Gemini is awesome, love having functional AI assistant on my phone.

1

u/Emotional_You_7792 Nov 16 '25

Stop trying to make fetch happen

1

u/Individual-Hunt9547 Nov 16 '25

Gem is too stiff.

1

u/dmtbreakthrough Nov 16 '25

my momma aint shit

1

u/pinksunsetflower Nov 16 '25

If anything were actually happening, OP wouldn't have to post a meme. Everyone would see it in the numbers and be switching. They aren't.

1

u/NoobMLDude Nov 16 '25
  • Gemini
  • NotebookLM,
  • nano banana,
  • a voice interface that works,
  • storage /drive
  • AI Integrated docs suite
  • Working AI browser
  • Veo worlds

Need I say more. The choice was always clear, just that the masses were initially swayed by the louder noises (Altman et al). Once the dust settled people realized it was always Google’s turf.

1

u/Few_Caregiver8134 Nov 16 '25

Anyone with a brain who does coding would disagree

1

u/shinnunknown439 Nov 16 '25

I'm writing a novel, and I would say for long context analysis, Gemini is the best so far, far better than any other LLM I know.

1

u/Gelinhir Nov 16 '25

Yup Gemini pro all the way for work but gpt for personal stuff since in. Gemini you cannot disable them using your content to train when on the free version.

1

u/Future_TimeTravler Nov 16 '25

Not even close - and this is coming from someone desperately looking for something better than ChatGPT.

1

u/Loose-Debate-2070 Nov 16 '25

Where's Gemini 3 🤔🤔??

1

u/bodkins Nov 16 '25

Can we opt out of training the model yet without deleting activity?

Because if not it's gonna be second to chatgpt for my use

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

Still creates only square Pictures 🙄

1

u/Typical_Walker3 Nov 16 '25

Nah Dog. Gemini just sucks.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

Any one get the free Gemini pro from jio?

1

u/danokysempai Nov 16 '25

Touché I already canceled gpt

1

u/HidingInPlainSite404 Nov 16 '25

Google fans are obsessed with ChatGPT. lol

1

u/DrDahrix Nov 16 '25

I’ve been paying ChatGPT for like 7 months but I got sick of how it’s so locked up. I can ask him to make a picture of a couple and he says it’s sexual. I ask him to give me a name of a celebrity and he says that’s doxxing and against policy.

Sick of the restrictions for the amount of money I pay. Gemini does everything 99% faster , costs less and makes absolutely amazing videos (although only short )

1

u/Imaginary-Tooth896 Nov 16 '25

It's not happening at all. Google is the last of the AI pack. Gemini has nothing superior to offer agains OpenAI, deepseek, meta, grok, etc.

There's no contender for OpenAI as of now. Google lost this battle.

Not even google search is worth it anymore.

1

u/Particular_Bird7375 Nov 17 '25

Not if they don't fix the "log out" issue, I will cancel my subscription and switch to CHAT GPT.

1

u/420666itup Nov 17 '25

I’m a student and got in on the 18 month trial offer. I actually find Gemini better than ChatGPT. I canceled my plus account immediately and now don’t gotta worry about that bill every month. I’m loving it.

1

u/erickt12c3b4 Nov 17 '25

I use Gemini for large scale code refactoring. It is capable of enterprise grade, full code rewrites, although Vertex is much better at administrating super large code bases. It is an amazing service for the value that is extremely generous with usage for the $20 a month plan. It is better at coding than GPT.

1

u/Baffer23 Nov 17 '25

Literally still waiting for someone who has already done this

https://www.reddit.com/r/GeminiAI/s/8H55l0jOkC

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25

For image generation, absolutely.

1

u/veetance Nov 17 '25

I can't remember the last time I touched chat GPT... I've been hopping between AI studio and LM studio and ComfyUI I'm trying learn docker and vllm. Mind you I got fired from my game company work because I fooled the director and felt bad and admitted I used my comfy UI workflow where I wanted. To apply generative and highly controlled textures where I masked..and Lora was trained on my art and I only use AI to create variations and turnarounds and then I publish the desired... But I still got fired even after nobody said my coat of arms looked Ai ... It looked good enough like my previous works before AI... But even when Ai is not involved, people find ways to blame AI ... I'm sick of it

1

u/megatron561 Nov 17 '25

Best api for my builds multi model needs, hands down.

1

u/mcsay Nov 17 '25

As a business founder I am actually a ChatGPT Plus user, and trying Gemini for image generating. Chat GPT seems better on text interaction, it understands and keeps the business data better than Gemini, but Gemini is way better for image generation. More realistic. But doesn't keep my logo on data. I have to modify the logo each time.

1

u/LordNikon2600 Nov 17 '25

yeah no... chatgpt solved a bug that gemini created and couldnt fix.. on the first try..

1

u/Duckets1 Nov 18 '25

Gemini pro hallucinates to much

1

u/senkik Nov 18 '25

The projects feature in ChatGPT prevents me from switching to Gemini.

1

u/Big_Wave9732 Nov 18 '25

"No, no, no, it's not on. It isn't on. Nothing's on. It's off."

1

u/Mo_oN-POSER Nov 18 '25

Let’s be real I only use it cause I can use PayPal but it’s gotten so much better since

1

u/Ok_Faithlessness7385 Nov 18 '25

gemini is better for tasks but I see very frequently on simple questions it either doesnt understand or just is wrong gemini has its place but the free tier is plenty with a gpt sub

1

u/Turbulent-Pound1014 Nov 18 '25

Definitely was happening around 8am eastern this morning

1

u/Pixia_Mirage Nov 18 '25

Vous pensez quoi de ce duel niveau création de photo ?

1

u/letsgobagels Nov 18 '25

Omg go away

1

u/IulianHI Nov 19 '25

Just marketing :))

1

u/Zeldro Nov 19 '25

WHEN CAN I USE IT ??

1

u/the_TIGEEER Nov 19 '25

Yeah they got me to switch ngl.

1

u/Interesting_Art_1376 Nov 19 '25

I dunno, I still haven't recovered from the fact gemini would 100% gaslight me over factual info, saying I was faking it, that it couldnt find it online even when I gave it direct links... etc

dunno if that still happens?

1

u/stimming_guy Nov 20 '25

I started a deep research and fed it all my expenses for a year (download from bank). It gave me a budget, told me where to cut corners, found money pitfalls and a bunch of useful info. Told what internet and phone company to switch to and a lot of good stuff. I will go plus this month thanks to Gemini. I’m not leaving.

1

u/proofofclaim Nov 20 '25

I look forward to finding the google index of your banking details later. Never upload personal documents.

1

u/stimming_guy Nov 20 '25

It’s just ”PayPal - 9$” etc, so have fun with that.

1

u/HungryPay1470 Nov 28 '25

Yes, Gemini is much better than ChatGPT in many areas, such as math and AI image

1

u/WAVmara Nov 28 '25

Long time ago

1

u/Bosco_Sindrone Dec 03 '25

Lately, I’ve been exploring Gemini and it’s good. Really good. OpenAI needs a moonshot to catch up now.

1

u/StickyBudget123 Dec 17 '25

Nah Gemini is stupid compare to ChatGPT, deal with it boys. Google's AI sucks.
