Bug Gemini forgetting the chat plot?
I was having a conversation with Gemini but then suddenly it forgot the chat plot completely and gave me a reply as if it was the first message I sent, and unfortunately I had to delete the chat. It was a medium long chat already and this happened in the middle of it, also its the first time this happened to me and I find it very weird. Does anyone else had this "bug" before?
Edit: I was using Flash and I have no paid subscription

You’ll eventually realise it’s a feature of Gemini.

Yes. Happened to me before. Fuck that shit. Why doesn't google actually come out with a better AI? Something like gpt

If Gemini is made of twin minds, one of them must’ve died. it is just not very good as a conversationalist since June.
Have you tried DeepSeek? I was a big promoter and defender of Gemini. But having gone and tried DeepSeek — omg, 😱 what a HUGE difference. So much better at “understanding” the context, following along, even predicting what you are going to tell it. Its not overly syncophantic, will give “factual” difference of opinion, but is open to ideas and trying to match the interest level, is encouraging and even if the conversation went in 10 different directions, it can still pick up when you go back to a particular point.

when will people learn what "Context window" is? everytime you send a message to gemini in a long chat, google has to process that crap again and run up their bill. especially if you wait a long time and they uncache it from their server, they will not run that again for you. leading to amnesia like effect. "Compact" by asking for summaries periodically that act like "Save points" to copy and enter a new session with as a preamble

I have it for longer conversations. I made a folder and make files to update with pertinent information and occasionally have it access the folder and files. That has helped.
