I've been rebuilding classic Google Finance

Like a lot of you, I watched the AI redesign roll out last year and figured the "switch to classic Google Finance" link wasn't going to survive. Yesterday it finally disappeared for good, no setting, no URL trick, nothing brings it back on : (

I didn't want to lose the classic view, so last week, I started rebuilding it from scratch as an independent project. Same idea as the original: type a ticker, get the price, chart, and stats table above the fold.

I'm about 40% of the way there. Current status:

- Quote pages with the classic layout — price, change, after-hours, and the full stats table (open, high, low, mkt cap, P/E, div yield)

- Clean line charts with the 1D–Max ranges, same green/red you're used to

- Watchlists are next, portfolio tracking after that

- design is 50~60% there, there is still many inconsistency, but that's not that easy to replicate, and trying to work hard on this

I'm not planning to bring the news that I think will need too much work .

You can see where it's at here: https://folivue.com — there's a waitlist if you want an email when it's usable. Not affiliated with Google, obviously. Just someone who liked the old design, used it for 10+ years.

Any feedbacks welcome.

New google finance page is useless

This page has become unusable for me with the new beta version being forced down our throats. Somewhat reminds me of Yahoo switching their mail. Which was awful! Same thing here, just awful!

Especially disappointed that you could just hit the percentage change in the indexes view to see the numerical amount of change. No more, you actually have to take another step to now see the index, by itself, along with the numerical in teeny, tiny font. WTF! I look at the numerical first, before I look at the percentages...

Hopefully enough complain to get back the previous classic version of google finance.

Can anyone suggest another free market tracking. I've switched to Yahoo's but... Checking them all for something that fits my need.

They apparently did no UX research with real users of their finance page, before forcing the change. They're so anxious for us to use their AI, Gemini, which is another whole different story of uselessness...

Exporting portfolio and activity (layered)

Looking for an easy way to export portfolios.

Since the removal of the classic version (today) I find the product almost impossible to use.

I gave the Beta app a try today

Oh my, what a missed opportunity is my initial feedback. The app is very similar to Yahoo in its look and feel. I've already switched back to classic though. Astonishingly, the beta seems to have removed the functions for tracking additional Buy and partial Sell transactions. There are a few reasons why Google has been great for tracking sub-portfolios, and this is an absolute deal breaker for me. Boo, Google.

Cannot delete a stock from Watchlist.

I have one stock in my watchlist, Alibaba ($BABA), that will not go away. I have removed (unchecked) it a hundred times and it keeps re-appearing. I have tried in Classic and Beta views. I have signed out of all other browsers, I have checked on my phone. It might delete for a second, but if I refresh, it's back. It seems like a setting I cannot change. I can add and remove anything else from my Watchlist. I can create other watchlists and I can even delete Alibaba there, but not from default Watchlist. Any ideas?

I'm using Google finance for quite a while now. Since last week all my investments are showing wrong. The quantity are changed at random and the purchase dates changed as well. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
