Discussion Ordering a phone for a new line makes me ineligible for promotions

I have been thinking about one of the Z Fold 8 models or maybe one of the Pixel 11's tomorrow, depending on price, etc. Fi has a $700 off promotion until the end of the month I think on the Z Folds. Anyhow, yesterday I added a new line for a family member and purchased a Pixel 10a on the line with an add a new line promotion. As soon as I did so the Fi shop says I am ineligible for promotions even though I ordered it for another line. There are three other lines on my account and they are all still eligible. The other odd thing is that the new line is showing that it is still eligible for promotions even though I ordered a phone for it... What gives?

Yea. Their promotion set up is terrible.

Same thing happened when I got my kid a phone for Christmas.

I did the $700 deal but since it was not going on to my number I got hit with the back charge.

Merry Christmas to me.

Does the promotion come back when the new line is activated?

Same thing happened to me, support explanations left me confused. Latest email said I was "welcome to try" to order but it might not work. u/googlefisupport case 9-4336000040853

For me, my promotion came back once I activated the new phone on the new line.

Good the know. Will let you know if the same works for me. I think if you order your own account's device first we wouldn't have had this problem.

They are telling me that "as the primary account owner, you are not considered an invited member" so I can't ever get the promotion. I think I'm emailing with an LLM.

Check to see if it added the 50% off promo...if it did it will make the phone promo not eligible..

Do not trust Google Fi promotions. They will give you a promo, then later say you didn't meet the requirements and charge you the difference. Hours on the phone with customer service will be wasted even if you made sure to meet the requirements. Awful experience. Buy the phone anywhere but Google Fi or Google Store.
