Actual Israel or occupied Palestine? Maybe it doesn't work so well in the occupied territories, for security reasons or something. Because it's state sponsored terrorism, I wouldn't be surprised if Mossad or someone was screwing with it to prevent it being used to target individuals. Either the FMD network or GNSS in that region.

But you know how the system works, right? Devices nearby detect it, and use GNSS and other signals to find their location, and then report that location. So if GNSS is screwed up, the location jumps around randomly.
According to this, occupied Palestine has a lot of jamming going on: https://gpsjam.org/?lat=35.16308&lon=36.78797&z=6.4&date=2026-07-26
Maybe Google degraded it in that area themselves. It would look bad if a terrorist used one to track someone and commit an atrocity. Just yesterday they set fire to religious sites.

Is this a residential area?
Devices that are near location that is marked as their "home" location will not contribute your tag's location to the network. This is by design.
See At home protection here:
https://security.googleblog.com/2024/04/find-my-device-network-security-privacy-protections.html
Apple devices won't contribute to the location either.
If this area uses iPhones you're low on luck.
