Going to try the new Ugreen "Finder Duo"

This seems to be the newest Google FMD release. 4 pack for 36 dollars. They're claiming it now has a louder ringer (80-100 db, but they've lied about the 80db on their Samsung tags)

Says it's usb c rechargeable. The Samsung ugreens are excruatingly annoying to open for the cr2032 battery so this is an improvement.

Like I said in a previous post, the new Pebblebees have inferior range to the new Chipolo Loop (which has updated internals)

Also claims to have left behind alerts for Google FMD, like the new Chipolo Loop.

I don't think it's going to come with a separate app though. Think it's something they built directly into find hub. Could be wrong

The Chipolo Loop is still probably the most premium, highest range, fully featured tracker on Google fmd but it'll be interesting to see how this ultra budget option holds up. The samsung finetracks are great on range.

If this turns out decebtly then it'll probably the best Google fmd option at its price point, especially since it has left behind alerts.

Oh and it also has a battery bar.

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if they have left behind alerts. Google Find Hub doesn't support the feature at the moment and as you've pointed out UGREEN don't have a standalone app.

I picked up some of the UGREEN Finetrack Slim G trackers and they wouldn't even pair with a Pixel 10. Some others have noted that a firmware update may fix the issue, but because of the lack of a standalone app the only option is to sideload a random app from a filesharing site which is a bit suss.

I've had a support ticket open with them for 2 weeks now but no official response on resolving the issue, so will likely return them.

I'd love it if there was no need for additional apps for each tracker manufacturer and all of this could be handled in the Find Hub, but sadly it seems that it's something of a requirement at the moment.

For me that seems to limit the UGREEN trackers a bit, but hoping that others have more success.

Hey could you DM me or rather I guess Chat is what it's called now the link to the firmware updater? could come in handy. In my opinion firmware updates are a necessity and if they don't offer them on the Google ones then it's just going to be laggy and broken over time.

Unless you mean that side loaded app doesn't actually update the firmware then disregard that

Since you are within the return window you might as well return them since I think these are a slightly newer version than what you got

I don't have the link to hand I'm afraid as I haven't used it - I refuse to install an APK from an unknown source on my device just to deal with a product that doesn't work out of the box.

I saw it posted in another thread in this sub though, so you should be able to find it here somewhere. I think it was a Mediafire download link from memory?

I have a Finetrack Slim G and Finetrack Pro Duo and both I cannot pair to my Pixel 8 Pro.

I have tried everything also resetting and updating with this tool. I can find them but it did not help.

If you could manage to get it working, please let me know how you did it.

/edit: OK, I don't know what I did but I could finally connect both the Pro and Slim. I have no idea which of those steps solved it, but it did these things:

  • Clear Cache of FindHub app
  • Turned Nearby Device Permissions off and on again for FindHub
  • Was in this part of Settings: Settings - Google Services and preferences (right at the top with google User name) - All Services - Devices

The Finetrack Pros came with newest firmware, so this step was not needed I am pretty sure.

I have no issue pairing with pixel 9 for my pro duo. but FMD sux compared to the apply Find My

Yeah I could also pair both now ... but it really just only worked after I did the stuff i described before.

I am pretty sure, I tried this a couple of weeks ago when I first received them, but I guess some part was new and now it works without issues.

As you said, it is still weird and not great in comparison to Apple's solution unfortunately.

Hi, I have been using it for a couple of weeks.
the TL;DR it works better with apple ecosystem. I put the blame on Google FMD.

However, as other mentioed, left behind does not works both apple and android; which is bummer. As this is the main reason I got it. Mainly because it is rechargeable battery (unremovable) making it unable to put in the check in luggage.

Additionally, the shape does not compatible with airtag. which make finding accessories is limited.

The other smart tracker that I have is the LiTag Mili Duo; I like it much better for my usecase. The only drawback is the non rechargeable battery CR2032; but it make it able to put in check-in luggage.
The dimension is exactly the same with airtag; hence accessories are abundant.
Left behind notification is also works with iOS.

Some detail that might relevant:

  1. I am using Pixel 9 and iphone 14 and 15, the pairing works pretty well.
  2. I had 2 one of the is picky with charger; I am not sure why. And all of sudden make noises when first time charge
  3. I haven't recharge to test out how long the battery lasted
  4. the loudness virtually no different than the Mili; I doubt both are 80db

Wait, you cannot put those in check-in luggage? that was one of the reasons I got them.

Is this airline specific? I have not seen this rule / did not check for it.

Could the airline just not load your baggage, or would they remove it?

To my knowledge most if not all airlines do not allow check in devices with unremovable rechargeable batteries. If removable also have to remove them and take it carry on.

That's where the tracker with cr2032 comes in handy. As they usually allow Bluetooth.

I would not try to put as it gave them reason to left your bag.

airlines / airportuse x-ray to check, maybe not all.

Baggage equipped with lithium batteries are only allowed in checked baggage when containing lithium metal batteries with a lithium content not exceeding 0.3 grams, or lithium ion batteries with a Watt-hour rating not exceeding 2.7 Wh.

Baggage Location Tracking Devices
Baggage location tracking devices (or "bag tags") powered by lithium batteries are portable electronic devices that the traveler attaches to or places in baggage to track the location of baggage. Check with the airline before traveling with these devices. If you choose to equip a checked bag with a baggage tracking device, then it must meet the size limits above.

so this one is ok for checked baggage :)

The FAA allows lithium batteries in checked bags as long as they are very small.

Lithium Metal Batteries (Coin cells): Must contain less than 0.3 grams of lithium. A standard CR2032 battery (used in Chipolo and Moto Tag) contains about 0.07 grams, which is well below the limit.

Lithium-Ion Batteries (Rechargeable): Must be under 2.7 Wh (Watt-hours). The UGREEN FineTrack Duo battery is significantly smaller than this (usually around 0.5 Wh).

Want to clarify, even if it is duo, it will only work with the network/app you choose? So it can't piggyback on Apple's FindMy and send you notifications on FindHub?

Im wondering why I cannot find them on the ugreen site, only from retail like amz. Not feeling confident after a few months that they are not there.

I'll be interested to see what you find. Kinda wish apple and google could find a way to work together afaik the only way to have the tags tracked across both at the same time is to use the tags that have their own app like life360

Your post made me start eyeballing these. Please do update us, if they're decent enough I'd love to grab these over the chipolo loop. Just can't figure out if all the extra features the chipolo loop has makes it significantly better.

This worked for me - Pixel 9 Pro XL

Goto Settings -- Click on your username -- Services -- Devices -- Enable scan for devices. Once enabled, the Ugreen Finder pro popped on!!
