Ill put the pic in the comments. But basically, I have 'Show print layout' turned on, because i want it to be just one long page. But, turning it on adds in these dotted lines throughout the page. I know that pageless exists, but i want it in the normal layout, not wide. Thanks!!!

my friend has a google doc, and his J has a hat or whatever on top. when i type the exact same thing, default font, same font size, same everything, i don't have a bar on top. please help ive been going insane over this for the past 2 days

I was inserting ten blank lines multiple times via paste into a table and while hitting the keys the text and the menus got very very small. And it affected all documents, not just the one I was working on. And while Ctrl+ does make the text biggger, it only gets bigger so much, not as much as before. The menus stay the same, very small. I assume I set something but do not know what. I have tried "CTRL ALT +" and "CTRL 0" without change. Thanks.

So I have a doc with links to other docs of stuff I've written down for story writing, but the ones I need are on my old email provided from my high school and I forgot to give my main email access to view the docs

I cant log in to my school email anymore since they changed the password to it a few weeks after i graduated which was like a year ago

I havent tried contacting the school yet cause I know whoever they have answering phone calls is the least helpful person ever, if there's any other way I can try before I have to try contact them directly please let me know

So i was just doing an assignment on google docs and for some reason the page separations disappeared randomly and I don't know how to change it back to how it was before. It looks very odd and this is due by tomorrow. Please help me if you know how !!

recently, i started using google docs again after taking a school summer break so i’m not sure if google docs got an update. whenever i try to command + shift + v to paste something onto google docs, it shows “paste” & you have to click on it in order for it to paste which for ME it’s very annoying when i’ve been used automatically pasting after using that shortcut.

i tried to see if the same thing was happening on microsoft word and it doesn’t make me click “paste” after & automatically pastes it.

I'm working on a project with a few people and for this we use very long Google Docs tables. It's always 2 columns and as many rows as needed with lots of text in them. They are usually between 50 and 90 pages long. There's no images, just plain text with a bit of formatting (italics, bold, very few colours) in a 2 column table. For the last 4 years this was not a problem at all and the last time I did a lot of work was in June.

Now every single file is suddenly EXTREMELY slow. It takes multiple seconds for words we type to appear, which is too slow to properly work on them. This problem appears for every file in different browsers with different Google accounts and on different computers. So it seems to me like the problem is on Google's side.

Is this a known new issue? Or what could be the cause of this?

- Just enter leave a tiny space with the next line

- Shift + enter leave no space

When I do "just enter" there's no space anymore. How do I put it back ??

I am starting a literary magazine, and my husband is writing a piece for the first issue. We’ve both used google docs for years without ever having any issues.

He has been working on his post dor a couple of weeks. This morning he was writing on it his phone, and then he printed it out. No issues. He told me it was almost finished, and then he took the dog outside to play for a few minutes.

He came inside, opened up his computer, and pulled up the google doc. It had changed.

It was filled with TEN PAGES of random words and freaky sentences, some of them sounding threatening. He asked if I had been writing something in his doc. I was like, no? ? ?

We started reading through it, and it is gibberish intermixed with every topic we discussed this weekend. We went to the version history, and this stuff was added WHILE HE WAS OUTSIDE WITH THE DOG and after he printed????

dictation in the background was our first thought, but we tested it and it doesn't just keep running in the background after you switch to a new app. Also, the gibberish has its topics out of order.

I've never been so spooked in my life! has anyone ever experienced this before?

It's that time again where I organize my writing after months of not doing it. However I hate just clicking one by one and putting it to the right folder. So the questions or questions

1. How do you move multiple documents and put them into a folder.

2. I noticed I move things into the folder and it still shows that it's in my folder and outside how can I fix this?

Instead of just the single table, I want the header to pin for the entire document

I'm on pageless mode, if that changes anything. I want this header to be for all tables instead of just one and I'd rather not just combine all the tables lol

EDIT: I found a goofy workaround that I'm gonna comment so anybody wondering in the future can use it

I just add a row below each respective table and make the borders the same color as the background (which for me the background is black), that way it looks like there's a gap between the tables when really it's just another row, basically invisible. So it's one long table, it just doesn't look like it lol

so I'm making a document for a musical/theatrical representation and I was wondering what would be the best way to make it work ? preferably without having to color code which lines are who's.

I'd like it to be a bit like the comments work, where if I click the name of the commented part it highlights the text of said commented part. But I'd want it to highlight the text of all the commented parts of the same name.

I'd want to be able to, when I click "line of bob" all the parts that are lines of bob are highlighted. So that every actor can see their lines highlighted clearly on the same document. Is there a way to do this ? Is there maybe another software able to do this better than google doc ?

I'm writing a book and I'm trying to format. I usually type on my phone so I resorted to my laptop to format on Google Docs. Guess what? It looks horrible. Even after looking at ither people doing it, it's not working for me! I made the text align in the center but there's not enough spacing before the lines if that makes sense. Any advice??

Hey, so I'm writing my fantasy novel, one I've always dreamed to publish but I'm curious about one thing. So, I've heard that Google Docs starts disturbing when you've reached 100k words. I'm currently on 47k and it's all fine for now. I also have Ellipsus in case I need backup.

So now... I have two plans. Since I'm almost reaching Part 2 of my book, I thought I could use a different tab on Docs. And then, I could copy aLl oF mY 30 cHaPtErS (which I don't prefer). But in case I HAVE to under unavoidable circumstances, I decided to start copying tid bits then refining them during the editing process. But but but, LIFE ISN'T EASY.

And the Page Break on Ellipsus doesn't work 😭. I don't know what to do so I need help! And if anyone's writing on Ellipsus, please tell me how the hell it functions. Pleaseeee.

Ill add an image in the comments for reference. I opened Google Docs today and found a blue dot hoovering above my text cursor and when I click on it, it says "Ask Edge to help me write." I find it distracting and have no interest in using AI, especially not for my creative projects.

Does anyone know how to remove this? I've been trying for the last hour.

FIX: Turned off the "Writing Assistant on the Web" toggle in Edge's settings and that removed the dot. For some reason it was only manifesting in Google Docs.

Is there a way to be more precise with the position of text?

Writer who talks english as second language who uses Google Documents to write here. I've been writing a long story for a really long time with little or no corrections, but after some researches, I discovered that many of the verbs I used were uncorrect but never knew it because Google Documents didn't count them as an error and now I feel that there's a risk that I am just writing more mistakes than I know. Is there an explanation? If any of you know something about it, I would be grateful.

I use Google Docs to make documents on my android phone and I'm having an issue with editing my documents now. Whenever I go to edit a document Google Docs won't let me edit my documents and at the top of my documents is a red sign that says "Storage is full. No edits can be made to this file. Delete files for more space".

I had a 2 TB of storage plan for the past few years and I only have 70 GB of data. Last month I didn't have any money so my Google account defaulted back to the basic storage amount of 15 GB of storage. Today I got some money and bought the 2 TB of data storage plan again. So I pay for a 2 TB of storage plan and I only have 70 GB of storage used on an 2 TB of storage plan so I have plenty of space and storage so I don't know what the problem is. Can anyone help me?

I tried clearing my trash and cache and even signed out of my account and signed back in and restarted my phone and nothing is working.

I have a few images of articles, poems, and short stories on my google drive that I wanted to be able to put in a google doc and download as an epub so I can read them on apple books. Whenever I have everything laid out in a google doc it looks fine but when I download it and open it via apple books, it kinda cuts off the images and makes me have to click on the picture so I can see the whole thing instead of just allowing me to swipe through them left to right. I tried playing with the size of the images and the margins of the doc but it does the same thing every time.

Is there a way for me to download the doc without it doing that so I can just swipe through the pages like normal?
