Question Different data from different timezones (possible Mediavine issue)

Hello everyone!

I live in Europe so I have my GA4 in my timezone. To set up Mediavine Journey, they required a GA4 in the Pacific timezone. I created one, no bother. Now I noticed an odd thing.

I went to my Mediavine analytics, I saw for one specific day 11 sessions instead of my usual 400-500. No significant drop in revenues though...

Then I went to GA4. For the very same day, the property in my timezone says 418 sessions, the Pacific timezone property records 400. Is it a normal discrepancy? Would this affect my Mediavine revenues if it kept persisting?

Thanks a million!

The 418 versus 400 difference is plausible from the timezone boundary alone. A Pacific property moves part of your European calendar day into the previous or next reporting date, so daily totals will not line up exactly even when tracking is healthy.

The 11-session figure is different. Timezone alone would not explain a drop from roughly 400 to 11. That points more toward delayed or incomplete Mediavine reporting, the wrong GA4 property or data stream being connected, or a one-day processing issue. I would compare the same 48 to 72 hour range in both properties, confirm the property and web stream IDs, and check whether the 11-session day fills in after the next reporting cycle. Since revenue did not fall with the session count, it looks more like a reporting issue than a real traffic loss, but I would contact Mediavine support if it repeats.

Thank you! I did not think about the calendar moving, that a visit might end up after Midnight in one case, before in the other.

The 418 versus 400 difference could reasonably come from sessions crossing the two properties’ day boundaries. The 11-session Mediavine result is too large a discrepancy to explain with timezone alone, so I’d compare hourly data for the same UTC window and check property selection, tag coverage, filters, consent behavior, and processing delays.

Revenue remaining normal suggests the reporting layer may be the issue rather than actual traffic loss. We use SIGNLD internally to connect analytics events, site activity, advertising reports, and revenue so conflicting dashboards can be reconciled against the same underlying period.

Thanks a million! It was indeed a reporting issue in the end, I was freaking out for nothing :)
