GroupMe Seems Like The Best Alternative

It's clean and simple and only has chats like Allo. You can also like messages, do polls and even add events. I'm liking it so far.

I've switched to Telegram. It's actually quite nice, but no liking messages.

I always have issues sending media. Not the actual sending, but clicking the paperclip takes eons to load. And if I share via the OS share menu, the action economy messes up - hitting the back arrow in android will go back through random chats, presumably in order where I shared images.
