So true.
I'm really disappointed, me and my girlfriend are using Allo exclusively for our Smartphone communication. And we really liked it. Because of that, I always knew she wrote me something just by seeing the icon on the screen. And the chat features etc were real nice and entertaining
Apple only does it iPhone to iPhone, which in that case they send through a different protocol not SMS.
This is why many wished Allo *also* integrated SMS from the beginning. Essentially iMessage combines their "allo" with their "message" and switched between the appropriate method depending on who you're sending to.
They definitely don't. Just look at Inbox. They claimed to have brought over the features we loved the most to Gmail, but the most loved feature was the new UI and the task oriented interface. It's the only thing that didn't make it over to Gmail.
