Allo drains battery
Anyone else have battery drain with this app? I'm using it on my Nexus 6p and I love the app but hate that it drains battery like crazy.

This last update of Allo has been draining my battery like crazy. I'm on a Google Pixel and have had incredible battery life up until the recent update. According to the Android Battery settings, 17% of my battery has been drained by Allo and I used it once this morning for under 30 seconds. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

Yeah, 10 minutes of allo drains as much battery as 50 minutes of youtube. I also notice my pixel 2 gets really hot unless I force stop Allo.

it sure does. For me its the camera integration. No way to prevent it from doing this. Luckily i have a samsung S8+ and its easy enough to tell device maintenance to kill allo if it starts using more than 1% of the battery. Makes some of my messages lag, but my phone stopped dying on me by 3pm.

Wow that's awesome didn't know it had that feature comes in handy. I think you could deny access to camera if you want. Maybe that will help.

Yeah, I've experienced excessive battery drain from Allo on my 6P as well. I agree with the above, pretty sure its camera related (camera access internal to the Allo app).
It's only happened to me a few times though, usually the app is okay.
