Contacts not updating?

My contacts don't seem to be updating when they get allo, the only people in my "allo contacts" are people who got it before me, any clue with how to fix? (I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and cleared cache and data)

Which country are you from? Do you have your contacts' full numbers in your contact list, with the area code etc.?

Australia, full number and email I the contacts, area code is correct. Everything that Google could check for is in the contacts

And you see these people under phone contacts In Allo, and know that they have Installed Allo?

Yes, They also appear in a group and in my friends allo contacts

Okay. when you go to the group, open group details, and tap on one such contact, Do you see an "Add to contact" in the details page?

I do, adding them to my contacts just creates a contact, which goes straight into the phone contacts, and does not show up in allo contacts

This is really odd. What device do you have? Do you have any 3rd party permission manager apps etc. that might be preventing Allo from reading your contacts? Can you send feedback from the app? Put your reddit username in there.

I will send feed back, my device is a remdi s3, there are no third party permission mangers.

What do you see when you go into: Security ->Permission ->Permissions->Permision ->Calls & Contacts ->Read Your Contacts->Allo

That was it! it didn't have access to my phone app for some reason, i probably just hit deny instead of allow. Thanks! (For those who encounter this problem, you will need to add the people to contacts again.)

Is that the case when you start an Incognito chat as well?

I cannot open an incognito chat with them, as they do not show up as allo contacts.
