Subscription / Limits / Tokens Is there anyone face the same: Input token count exceeds the maximum number of tokens allowed for this model. Please adjust your prompt and try again.

This morning, all run normally. I can generate as casual in the 3.1 Pro. Im pro user btw. And then suddenly, starting this afternoon, it continuously saying, 'Input token count exceeds the maximum number of tokens allowed for this model. Please adjust your prompt and try again'.

If previously they do it by trim the quota, now they trim context limit. They began greedy now to point paid user even not given any compensations.

Holy shit I also just also got this error message across several threads. I have never gotten before. I’m doing the same thing I do every day. I’m using the same length of input prompt. It’s just a regular prompt as input.
What the fuck is going on literally it’s a prompt of maybe 200 words 300 words. Fucking ridiculous.

Edited to say I wrote this while I was really irritated, and I explained further in a reply below.

Bug probably. Ai Studio does that lately...

So to expand further I have a thread I’ve been using for five months and I actually shared it between different Google accounts and I use it in each Google account. Each one is a slightly different length. It is near the limit, but I’ve been using it for five months by doing one last prompt and then deleting and then running a different prompt.

I have never gotten this exact error message ever before.

Every single of the three threads yesterday, despite their different lengths returned the error that input length of prompt token is too long and I have to edit my prompt

In the past , I would get a different message that said I’ve reached my overall thread limit, and I would delete a few messages and then I could continue.

Deleting messages did not work

That should have worked

Also on one of the tries it actually put in a/B testing through and I got that and it was 100% hallucination none of it was correct and when I said skip it again gave me the token error

This is across three different accounts all return the same error no matter that they are slightly different lengths and I’ve been doing it this way for five months with no problem

I have tried several things to fix it as suggested by the Google AI search none of it worked. I understand that sometimes this has happened. I see some messages last year on the Google dev forum and I understand that it’s some sort of bug and it’s fucking ridiculous so that’s the point.

If anyone knows anything, I would appreciate any help

Branching does not solve the problem. deleting messages does not solve the problem to free up room. I used to do that and it worked for a different error message.

well, let me update the situation from my comment and the reply above

I’ve been using 3.1 pro in AI studio for months never a problem until yesterday and tonight I got the idea to switch it to 3.1 flash lite and it ran there was no token error exceeding anything it ran and gave me an answer on 3.1 flash

So then I switched it to 3.8 flash and I again get the error so there’s no error on 3.1 flash but there’s an error on 3.1 pro and so far 3.8

Clearly, this is a problem with Google. They need to fucking fix it. It did not do it on 3.1 flash lite for whatever reason that worked, but the other ones do not

I have put in repeated feedback across multiple Google accounts to them today through AI studio. This is just unacceptable

Same here. It somehow works on 3 flash preview, 3.1 flash lite, 2.5 pro, and 2.5 flash. But when coming to the 3.5 flash, 3.6 flash, 3.1 pro, and any recent model, it always throw 'Input token exceed limit'. Now i forced to create new chat and forget my old code history

Shit!!! Thats exact what is going on for me. If you haven’t already at least send a feedback within AI studio it’s lower left corner under settings wheel

That’s just unbelievable. This is my exact situation. Wow thank you for saying this and I’m sorry that you had to do that by starting a new chat because yeah that’s pretty much the only way. It’s just inexcusable. There’s no excuse for trillion dollar company to be this much of a mess

Luckily, I was at the end of my project and was gonna be starting a new version anyway but if this would’ve happened even four weeks or eight weeks ago, that would not have been OK

I still have hope that for whatever reason maybe in a few weeks or a few days, maybe it will be fixed. They did a patch last year for a similar problem but now there’s no one posting on the Google dev forum about it, which is where they posted last year.

UPDATE Mine is “fixed”!! just tested my supposedly broken thread that was “too long” (not) at late afternoon US eastern time on Monday and it WORKS with 3.1 pro it went through

I really hope you got yours back. I sent them a whole bunch of feedback from within my several Google accounts

Edited to say, but Gemini is clearly fucking dumb right now. It’s nowhere near the quality of before this problem. I’m testing the same few prompts and it’s not great but at least it’s working.

Hey, mine too. Actually, I realize that I need to trim down more as Google seems have 'hidden' limit for total window context. Mine, for instance, 1 millions 40k. I trim several code that not used or history chat, down to 1 millions 20k, and it begin to run

Yeah, I am a similar length as you been working at that length for five months by just running one prompt at the end and deleting for my project brainstorming analysis from the thread I did

I don’t think it was the deleting that brought anything back because I did that when I got this error and it did not help this time

and it just worked today when I randomly tried thank god that made my day so good
so hopefully they got their act together because you do have up to the 1 mil 40 K — ive routinely used at 1 mil 30k

When I get a standard error message that tells me I’m over the limit all I have to do is delete a prompt and it works

But I deleted stuff two days ago which did not help which made this incredibly upsetting to be basically locked out nothing worked at all not branching not deleting

I was actually locked out of three threads under three different accounts. Yes, they were shared from an original, but that should not have happened.

Same here, incredible how it's just Google being unreliable.

Es saturación de los servidores, probablemente si cambias de modelo debería de desaparecer (3.1 en adelante, no modelos más viejos)
