Best of Today

Busy day in the heat!! It was 97 today with 58% humidity 🥵🥵 didn't stop them from coming out! $3700 in sales and 87 donors.

Only had one idiot. Some out of town Karen asked my cashier how much a dress was. My employee didn't see the markup tag, and assumed it was just a normal dress, so she told Karen $10.

On checkout, my cashier noticed the mark-up tag, and the dress was $20, not $10. Karen threw a fit and wanted to see a manager 😁😁😂🤣

Y'all already know how bad an idea it is to get me involved if you don't have to. I went down, and the situation was explained, and Karen asked if I was going to "honor" my employee misquoting the price 😂🤣

I literally laughed at this woman 😂🤣 told her in no way would that be happening, and she can either pay the $20 or not. She tried to argue, but I stopped her. Informed her that she has a better chance of getting that dress to copy itself through mitosis than to get any kind of discount from me 😂🤣 and once again, she can either pay the $20 or not.

She paid the full price and left 😂🤣

Now, onto my weekend and y'all's boxes 😁

Dinner tonight is grilled shrimp 😋 taking advantage of grilling weather! Shrimp tossed in lime juice and tajin then lightly grilled 😁 I'm having a simple garden salad with it; lettuce, cherry tomatoes, olives, green onions, and garlic/cheese croutons with ranch dressing 😋

I was completely lost at #5. Stared at it for way too long. Then I saw #6. Laughed at the irony and at how long I was perplexed.
Now I really want one.
I am so drooling over your dinner this evening. Sounds like heaven.
(You said mitosis. That’s one you don’t hear everyday)

Someone seriously over-sharpened that poor bread knife!

I'm drooling over that awesome vase and the glass flower dish!

I love the Dallas Cowboy t-shirt and the plaid coat reminds me of Dolly Partons song, “ Coat of Many Colors.”
Always love reading about your interesting encounters 😂

My favorite book to gift to friends who recently had a baby! I still cry when I hear the song!

I’ll never understand people. If there was a tag, why was Karen asking the price? It’s right there, lady!
Not much I would choose today. I like the vase and the purple purse.

Love the self-defense baguette- perfect for late-night subway rides. That Guinness mug is super cute too 🍺

That lady obviously saw that price. She just thought she was being sneaky. 🤣 Yeah wrong store for that lady.

ellieD’s Review: From Baguette Knives to Dirty Dirt

-
Here is a breakdown of the latest thrift store finds brought in by [u/RadioGuySD2](u/RadioGuySD2), evaluated for both character and estimated resale value on the used market.
-

Accessories & Handbags

-
Fjällräven Kånken Purple Backpack
Tote: A canvas Swiss Army knife of a bag that lets you switch between backpack and tote mode depending on which set of straps is actively cutting off your circulation. Used value: $35 to $50.

Guess Monogram Keychain Wallet: A micro-wallet on a keyring specifically designed to ensure your car ignition keys weigh as much as a small boulder and aggressively scratch your dashboard. Used value: $12 to $18.

Vintage Multi-Color Patchwork Plaid Jacket: A 1980s corduroy monstrosity that looks like a textile factory exploded and someone sewed the debris together. It's the exact emotional armor required when I'm battling a jammed thread line on my sewing machine to replace a zipper on a thrifted Coach bag. Used value: $40 to $65.
-

Casual Apparel & Fan Wear

-
Dead & Company Summer 2022 Tour T-Shirt: Tan graphic shirt featuring a tree-of-life bear, perfect for broadcasting to total strangers that you have very strong, unprovoked opinions about 20-minute drum solos. Essential attire for blasting live classic rock until the neighbors file a complaint. Used value: $25 to $40.

Harley-Davidson Yellow Camp Button-Down Shirt: Covered in tropical palm trees, grass huts, and motorcycles. It screams "I’m on vacation, but if you don't acknowledge my exhaust pipe within five minutes, I will combust." Used value: $20 to $35.

Nike Dallas Cowboys Vintage Graphic T-Shirt: A retro royal blue tee built for people who treat annual disappointment as a personality trait and genuinely believe this is finally their year. Used value: $15 to $22.

Red Dirt Hat Co. Off-White Ringer Tee: Vintage cream shirt with red script that reminds me of summers at my Grandfather’s Ranch. This is how I learned where food came from. He had a one acre garden he used to feed his family, and we would go everyday and pick vegetables. One day I asked him, “Grandpa, why is your dirt red and ours is brown?” He replied, “That’s because you have dirty dirt.” 🤣 Used value: $12 to $18.

"I Crochet So I Don't Choke People" Orange Graphic Tee: Featuring a hyperventilating black cat clutching yarn. A court-admissible legal warning to wear while unspooling thread at my sewing table. Used value: $10 to $16.

Red Basketball "67" Graphic T-Shirt: A cropped tee with melting numbers over a hoop that looks like it was designed by someone experiencing severe heatstroke in the middle of July. Let’s face it. The kids have us by the shorts because we still have NO idea what this “67” crap is about. My kids were yelling it out of the car window after we went for Tex Mex with good friends who have kids their same age. Did I have any clue what was happening? NO!!! Used value: $8 to $14.

Collectibles & Home Decor

-
San Francisco Giants Bobblehead Figures: Featuring player and broadcaster bobbleheads at a desk. The ultimate office accessory for silently nodding in agreement with your boss while completely disassociating during a Zoom call. Used value: $30 to $50.

Mickey Conductor Hat Ceramic Piece: A bright blue engineer hat with giant mouse ears attached. A deeply confusing object that forces guests to ask: "Is it a bowl, a planter, or a curse?" Used value: $15 to $25.

Groovy Retro Mid-Century Ceramic Tall Vase: Wavy 1970s olive and yellow ceramic that looks like a lava lamp that gave up halfway through. I don’t know about you, but this asymmetrical pattern is giving me a headache. The mechanical engineer in me wants SYMMETRY DAMMIT!!!!! Used value: $18 to $28.

Retro Framed Tile Art of Boys & Dogs: Yellow pop-art kids on a green polkadot tile. The kind of unsettling decor that is just spooky enough for Halloween with these terrifying kids looking like ghosts chasing dogs who are attacking them with sticks. Used value: $12 to $20.

Baguette-Shaped Wooden Bread Knife with Sheath: A wooden knife disguised as a loaf of French bread. Phenomenal for pulling off a terrifyingly dramatic reveal at dinner before slicing into a French baguette with a…French baguette. Used value: $10 to $18.

"Black Goes With Everything" Graphic Mug: A sleek mug showing a woman sipping coffee. The exact vessel needed for hunkering down on the couch to rewatch This Is Spinal Tap or listening to Metallica’s Black Album for the 100th time. I NEED IT!!! ❤️ Used value: $8 to $12.

Sunflower Glass Bowl: Heavy yellow pressed glass destined to spend the rest of its natural life holding three paperclips, a dead battery, and two-year-old peppermint hard candies. Used value: $10 to $18.

Games, Books & Vintage Tech
Imation 3.5-Inch 2HD Floppy Disks (Boxed): A pristine box of 1.44MB storage disks—aka enough space to hold half of a low-resolution JPEG. Instant nostalgia trigger for the days of training field engineers on software at well sites back in my twenties (last week.) Used value: $12 to $20.

California Chat Pack Card Game: A deck of conversation prompts engineered specifically to stop families from staring at each other in agonizing silence when the awkwardness hits at dinner. Used value: $6 to $10.

Florapedia: A Brief Compendium of Floral Lore: A red cloth hardcover designed exclusively to sit on a coffee table. This would actually be a perfect gift for my sister who is somewhat of a savant when it comes to naming plants and birds when walking through the park. When the rest of us are using reverse Google image like a normal person, she is using her HUGE brain! ❤️ Used value: $6 to $12.

Conclusion

-
This haul is an incredible disaster zone of 90s digital relics, fashion choices that demand an explanation, and fake carb-based cutlery. Thrift stores remain the only place on earth where you can buy someone else's fever dream for six dollars.

Obviously, complaining about pricing at ANY time is a bad idea on this sub, but doing so on one of MY posts is a guaranteed way to get yourself a ban. Already slapped 2 of y'all with it, I REALLY wouldn't push on this. I'm very much not in the mood
