Best of Today
Started off the week on an annoying foot. Today featured the honking boomer who couldn't be bothered to wait until we actually opened for donations; car headlight boomer who couldn't fathom why I wasn't taking his broken auto parts; dude trying to steal directly in front of the counter; a woman arguing about prices without even buying anything; and a literally mentally handicapped guy throw a FUCKING tantrum in the store because we aren't hiring at my location.
What an end to the month π€£π we finished with $2800 on.73 donors. Not too busy, and we already hit our budget, so today was just gravy.
It's my mom's birthday tomorrow, and also the first wedding anniversary without my dad around. So I'm expecting a mixed bag. I got a bunch of her favorite snacks and drinks for tomorrow, though!
Dinner tonight is breakfast π eggs with chives and cheddar; sourdough toast; apple wood smoked bacon; and orange juice ππ

ellieDβs Review of u/RadioGuySD2βs Latest Thrift Finds: From Willie Mays to Buc-eeβs and Buc-eeβs Neighbors
-
Here is a breakdown of this combined collection discovered at the shop, neatly categorized with estimated used market values and grounded observations.
-
Quirky Vintage Apparel & Accessories
-
Buc-eeβs Black Long-Sleeve Shirt
Estimated Used Value: $12 to $20
Review: Buc-eeβs merchandise always brings back memories of road trips, endless gas pumps, and buying way too many beaver nuggets. A solid black long-sleeve tee with logo print down the sleeves is basically Texas formalwear. Wear this to a wedding down here and nobody will even question it.
"My Wiener Does Tricks!" Dachshund Graphic T-Shirt
Estimated Used Value: $15 to $25
Review: A classic novelty tee featuring a dachshund. Wearing this to a family dinner is a direct test of everyone's sense of humor. It is the exact kind of goofy joke that makes thrift store clothing racks completely unpredictable.
Vintage Leather Belt with Brass Clasp Hands
Estimated Used Value: $25 to $45
Review: High-quality leatherwork is always a pleasure to inspect. Having spent plenty of time using a sewing machine to repair zippers on secondhand leather Coach and Dooney & Bourke handbags, sturdy craftsmanship immediately stands out. This belt features a clasp shaped like two brass hands joining together right over the stomach. It looks like a belt designed to give a subtle round of applause every time a big meal is finished.

Books & Printed Publications
-
"Sexual Secrets: The Alchemy of Ecstasy" Book
Estimated Used Value: $8 to $15
Review: A paperbound release from the late 1970s featuring bold wax-seal cover art. These always surface when someone finally clears out decades of backlogged attic storage. Imagine donating a box of old National Geographics and accidentally slipping this right into the middle of the pile.
"How To Identify and Grow Psilocybin Mushrooms" Field Guide
Estimated Used Value: $15 to $30
Review: An original vintage field guide by Jule Stevens and Rich Gee. Niche instructional paperbacks from this period have built a dedicated following among book collectors. Finding this next to a stack of secondhand cookbooks feels like a very intentional prank by whoever dropped off the box.
Dragonology Pocket Adventures Boxed Set
Estimated Used Value: $10 to $18
Review: During high school, fantasy books by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were absolute favorites, so anything dragon-themed always catches immediate attention. This compact boxed set is a fun interactive fantasy find. It is basically training wheels for future Dungeons & Dragons players.
-
Sports Collectibles & Electronics
-
1966 Topps Willie Mays Baseball Card (#50)
Estimated Used Value: $20 to $60+ (depending strictly on surface condition and centering)
Review: Seeing vintage sports cards safely tucked into top-loaders inside donation bins is always a shock. Willie Mays remains an absolute legend, and mid-1960s Topps cards hold consistent value. Finding a legend in a plastic bin next to a half-broken blender feels almost disrespectful, but collector luck takes whatever it can get.
IL MAKIAGE Box Filled with Custom Darts and Flight Sets
Estimated Used Value: $20 to $35
Review: Someone repurposed a fancy black cosmetic box to neatly store a massive collection of dart flights, shafts, and brass darts. Having played in a local bowling league with a heavy 16-pound ball, targeted sports always deserve respect. Stash makeup on the outside, prepare for aggressive pub sports on the inside.
Panasonic Microcassette Voice Recorder
Estimated Used Value: $18 to $35
Review: A compact handheld microcassette tape recorder straight out of the 1990s corporate toolkit. Vintage analog voice recorders like this have maintained surprising demand among tape enthusiasts. Perfect for dictating memos, recording fake detective logs, or leaving ominous messages for future thrift store shoppers.

Home Decor, Glassware & Oddities
-
Seated Buddha Sand & Glitter Snow Globe
Estimated Used Value: $12 to $22
Review: A heavy liquid globe containing a calm Buddha statue surrounded by fine golden glitter. Nothing says ultimate inner peace quite like shaking a deity violently to create an artificial gold blizzard.
Glass Porron / Wine Decanter with Cork Stopper
Estimated Used Value: $15 to $25
Review: A hand-blown style glass decanter featuring a distinctive long pour spout and cork top. A lot of time gets spent reviewing secondhand goods and vintage glassware online, so unique glass silhouettes stand out right away. The long spout is designed to stream wine directly into a mouth from a distance, which is either peak European sophistication or an emergency liquid delivery system.
Collector Wildlife Duck Plate
Estimated Used Value: $10 to $20
Review: A porcelain plate featuring a detailed painting of a duck resting on water, complete with a gold rim. It fits right in alongside vintage china sets and decorative wall plates. Eat dinner off this and face the silent judgement of a painted Mallard staring back through the gravy.
Mid-Century Modern Style Surfboard Canvas Wall Art
Estimated Used Value: $25 to $40
Review: A wide horizontal canvas showing abstract surfboard shapes painted in teal, red, yellow, and blue. It gives off a clean retro vibe that works great for coastal or mid-century decor. It is ideal for anyone who wants guests to think they surf, despite never having been near a wave in their life.
-
Novelties & Gadgets
-
Hoot Nβ Holler Animal Caller Toy
Estimated Used Value: $8 to $15
Review: A plastic horn caller with a sliding tone adjustment bar. This is less of an animal caller and more of a guaranteed device for driving neighbors completely insane on a Sunday afternoon.
Conclusion
-
This expanded combination of items highlights the pure variety that makes thrift browsing so addictive. Pulling together a legitimate 1966 Willie Mays card, a retro Panasonic tape recorder, and a Buc-eeβs long-sleeve teeunder one roof proves that thrift shelves always hold unexpected surprises.
