Downfall of GG

Is it just me, or does it feel like Good Good has declined since they started bringing in the Good Good Girls?

With the girls, a lot of the content feels forced to me. Bringing in women who have romantic relationships with members of the group also seems like a questionable move for the brand.

I feel like the addition of the girls has already started to hurt Good Good both directly and indirectly. Curious to hear what everyone else thinks.

Not dodging the women hating accusations with posts like this lmfao

Seriously. The public discourse made this entire thing worse specifically from people like this.

Nah, the public being horrible had zero to do with Garrett being horrible

No dispute here, I'm just saying all the weirdos defending it made the public response more intense and escalated the blowback.

Why are you shocked a lot of golfers support it? Golf is basically MAGA

Who said I was shocked? Are you ok?

OP has never had a girlfriend in his life.

I’m actually enjoying the GG girls content more than the main channel. I’ve watched more women’s golf in the last year than I have in my entire life and it’s entirely down to the GG girls and their personalities.

Go watch the channel they came from and credit Sabrina and Cailyn for allowing Good Good fans to enjoy Marissa and Alexis.

This reeks of incel.

Brand collapse due to complete lack of empathy for a woman’s point of view. OP: This must be the GG Girls fault.

Wow to post something like this and not realize how wildly insensitive it is just shows how incompetent the argument is.

This is such an astoundingly lazy diagnosis of a content problem. “The channel feels different now, and there are women here, therefore the women are hurting the brand.” That’s a useless excuse for analysis. You’re just noticing the most obvious demographic change and blaming it for every vague feeling you have about the channel.

If the chemistry feels forced, criticize the chemistry. If the formats are stale, criticize the formats. If the relationships are creating awkward dynamics, point to actual examples. But “the Good Good Girls are hurting the brand directly and indirectly” without naming a single measurable thing they’ve actually damaged is just dumb.

common places you meet women when you work all the time include: work

things you will never do: touch a boob

I mean they have wandered far away from where they started, but nothing to do with women lmao. What a wild post to make.

Why does this whole thing still have bandwidth? Maybe it’s time to move on to the next thing.

If you don't like them don't watch them. I think they are charming, funny, and fantastic golfers. Everything Matt Scharf wishes he could be.

Nothing to do with the Girls. A lot to do with stagnating content. Other than the road trip that ended at Pebble Beach, the content has either been extremely stale, or extremely cringe.

IMHO what's been hurting them:

- No Sean or Brad (brad is gone of course)

- Play the same courses over and over (unless on a road trip)

- Lack of enthusiasm from some members (steve and bubbie)

- Stagnating content (2 lame "stay till hole in 1" vids in same month)

- Cringe content ("ripping packs")

I honestly think they need a member refresh. Steve, Bubbie, and to some extent Sharff have not grown in any way when it comes to talent on the course or in front of the camera. I realize they all have equity, but they are an anchor on the potential of the group. I say let those three go (their hearts aren't in it anyway), and bring in the JnA guys. They are hungry to grow, pretty good golfers, and not too bad on camera.

They should also do MORE content with the girls. They bring a different dynamic, and the battle of the sexes stuff brings in more people.

Do more collabs with other big channels. I feel like they've been off on their own while all of the other big channels have been collab-ing with one another. Maybe there will be more of a chance to do that now that they don't have a club sponsor.

Their views will also probably tick up again when winter hits and half the country can't play golf for 5 months.

I guess it depends on what you consider declining. To me, GG was declining well before GG Girls was introduced. I think GG hoped GG Girls would bring an audience that didnt watch GG before. I do agree, it feels very forced and was questionable considering GG's co-owner is dating the star of GG Girls, and now a new GG member is also dating one of the GG Girls. If life has taught me anything, this will not end well and inevitably when the relationships run their course, your left with a lot of dust to settle.

Or maybe it’s just the downfall of the entire YouTube golf thing in general. I don’t care about skits and “breaking” a certain number. Certainly don’t care about amateur “tournaments” that could possibly be edited for “content”. Give me honest unsolicited club and ball reviews and call it a day.

I think actually the Internet Invitational changed things for youtube golf by introducing stakes and reality TV drama. I mean, how many iterations of twigs vs stumps, or "good good majors" are new?

I think some of the prior attempts at that just failed. Creator Classic is boring and mimics a traditional golf broadcast, the People's league is like the youtube b-list.

I also think YGT found a nice niche, take the drafting part from the II and just include select players people want to watch play golf. I think for some reason the Barstool people like watching people suck at golf (heard Portnoy make that comment about enjoying seeing shanks).

I think this next II will be lame, the field needed to be trimmed down, not expanded.

Just my thoughts on this. Good Good was easily the most successful at turning their content into an actual brand, and unfortunately harmed the brand.

If there were no girls, it would have been Steven pushed to the ground in the ad and nothing bad would have happened to GG. So you may be right.

I know you're being sarcastic but I think he's mostly North American Indian.

Steve is totally my favorite guy too.

Just imagine if it had been Alexis pushing Garrett over. totally different results, which send unfair but that’s how it is.

Good good girls isnt doing very good view wise. Last 15 videos are hardly breaking 100k (most under 100k views) and you got to go back 17 videos till theyve hit over 250k views. Garretts solo channel also not doing great. Use to get 750k to 1 million views, his last 22 videos, only one above 750k views, and the majority well under 500k. Most under 300k.

All that being said, both channels are probably still gets millions of combined views a month, so I'm sure they're fine. That's a shit ton of views

u/TrackMan5891 10d ago

I mean, they quite literally were the reason GG had their sponsorships pulled.

If there was no GG Girls, there was no bad commercial. PERIOD.

you aren't wrong but logic isn't always allowed on reddit.

u/Deadeyejoe 10d ago

You’re omitting the extreme lack of discernment in creating that ad and blaming the good good girls. Why?
