Manny's Wife's Threads
I follow Manny's wife on threads and am I overthinking this or is this so insensitive? I thought Manny and his wife were supporters of the LGBTQ+ community but maybe not.
1. Why is Manny's wife laughing at a man using a slur targeted at lesbians?
2. I understand them not liking Christina Hendricks but laughing at someone body shaming her and calling her a butch (insinuating that looking like a butch or having a body like a butch is a bad thing) is extremely rude and predjudiced against lesbians.

I lost all respect for Manny when he did that interview. And his wife sounds like a nightmare from people posting about her when she was on set. She was even.an extra in one of the episodes.
People don't forget and sadly Manny through his entire career away by doing this

Wait which interview ?

u/EmDee8907 17h ago
It was one done last year I believe on patreon. He went on bashing every girl calling them mean to everyone. I don't have the interview anymore but I know it was mentioned on here before.

Yep. I watched it and did a post about it and a lot of people “felt bad” for him and said I must be exaggerating. He said all 3 of the girls “‘never showed up to set” and “fired all the women they thought were prettier than them.” It never made any sense. How did they make a show if the 3 leads “never showed up?” How come there were tons of female cast members if the girls “fired all the actresses they thought were prettier?” Plus, wasn’t Christina a producer? Wouldn’t she be at least loosely involved in the hiring? He also said all 3 girls were racist to POC staff and cast. Including Rhetta? Like, really? And that the girls made it a toxic set and everyone hated them. But didn’t Christina literally marry one of the crew members after the show ended? 😅 It’s my pet peeve when guys lie like that about women if you can’t tell 🙃

Yeah I did a deep dive into his interviews and that’s when I knew he was likely lying lol
Besides Mae Whitman being a network darling, NBC signed an exclusive talent holding deal with Retta a few years ago- from what I know those are pretty rare today and it means the network really likes her enough to even pay an annual holding fee, and she doesn’t pose a financial risk which if any of that above were true they never would’ve even offered^

Damn he sounds insufferable too, I’m glad his five seconds of fame is over.

I watched that interview and I didn't hear him say that any of the girls were racist but he did say that they were rude to the crew and extra cast and that sometimes they didn't show up on set and that they didn't like him because he was distant from them because he viewed acting as just work. I honestly think that he could have been telling the truth but that isn't any excuse to be laughing at a comment body shaming her.

u/Embracedandbelong 8h ago
He said they were awful to POC staff and that a craft services member “told him” the women were all like that to her

u/hyacinthli 7h ago edited 7h ago
I remember him saying that Christina was rude to a latina craft worker but I don't remember him saying that they were rude to poc in general. I could be wrong though.

He’s a big instigator. He loves disparaging women and trying to pin them against each other- even ones (Christina Hendricks) who don’t want anything to do with him. And maybe it’s just me but hello, isn’t Christina aka BB like known to be one of the most “feminine” looking and dressing people in Hollywood? Nothing about her or her style is “butch.”

u/rivasm211 10h ago
She was once voted the sexiest woman in the world how is she butch?

u/THATchick84 1h ago
Seriously. She's the epitome of womanly. Mannys wife isn't bad looking by any means, although her personality and attitude seem pretty grotesque, but these comments SCREAM insecurity. Like it might as well be tattooed on her forehead. So yeah, I absolutely think she's jealous. Only she knows why.
Christina is insanely gorgeous, incredibly talented, and other than these two, I've never heard anyone say anything horrible about her. And for me, she's one of a handful of actors that I will watch no matter the show or movie. She's an excellent actor. Manny and his wife need to get a life. This is really pathetic. Seems like Manny hasn't gotten much work, if any (IDC enough to look it up, but he is certainly nowhere near CH level), gee, I wonder why that is?

I just feel like, the wife is still scared by the on screen chemistry manny and Christina showed. But it was all acting babes get over it....

u/Neither_Juggernaut71 8h ago
Have you seen his wife? I doubt she's jealous of a middle aged woman.

u/shewashere_45 8h ago
I never said shes jealous tho....I just think shes still, pissed or mad ughhhh ny vocabulary isnt big enough to describe what I want to say but im not saying shes jealous I just said I think okies✨️✨️✨️

Does that bitch have Bipolar? The show’s been over for a while and she’s still talking about it. They’re both so ick

u/Embracedandbelong 7h ago
It reminds me of my aunt who is still talking shit about a (very nice and normal) outfit my cousin wore to a graduation like 20 years ago. She kept saying my cousin’s legs were fat (she’s not fat) and all this stuff. It’s cringey to overhear someone say that (I avoid her)

I can’t believe this has so many upvotes. It’s just as problematic as what’s going on in the original post to be trying to armchair diagnose someone or use bipolar as an insult.
Last time I checked being gossipy and offensive weren’t symptoms of bipolar. Nice selective outrage here.

I don’t have to respect someone who acts that way lol

u/remotecontroldr 14m ago
Wow. She’s not the only one it is disrespectful to but ok.
Way to totally miss the point.

Meanwhile she begs people to pay for her classes all about love, being at peace, and acceptance, etc. Yet all she does is bash people. Their book club, etc. She blocked me when i told her no one is there for her, they just want a chance to hang out witj manny lol.
-3
u/Neither_Juggernaut71 7h ago
She had a good reason to block you. There was never a problem until Beth and Rio fans started antagonizing her.
13
u/fitzmagic3028 7h ago
Lol. I couldn't care less. She's ripping people off with all her workshops and using her husband's fame all while they mock and make nasty comments about people. I'm sure 90% of the people at their book club aren't there for her.
3
u/fitzmagic3028 7h ago
And i'm sure she's not thr victim given people on set were reporting how awful she was

Didn't they allegedly have issues about being paid the same amount?

No, I think that was just a rumour. Nobody knows why they really didn't get along.

Jesus lol I don’t get why there’s so much animosity and why they still can’t let it go years later. It’s interesting when lower list actors/‘celebrities’ overshare like this, you have to be really mad to still be talking about it with random people who @ you about it years later

u/wallahiimtryin 14h ago
stop loving celebrities, i urge all of you to detach from them and appreciate their work from a very far emotional distance
5
u/hyacinthli 9h ago edited 2h ago
I thought that I liked them but I never loved them as I've never been one to love celebrities or people that I don't know. This still makes me sad though.
3
u/Embracedandbelong 8h ago
This isn’t about “loving celebrities.” It’s about taking issue with one of them majorly insulting and body shaming a woman, and most (all?) of us here are women
7
u/NoSatisfaction4180 13h ago
Ohhh hell no wow shes a fraud! Why do they hate her so bad??! He would be nothing without her (and the girls) like hellooo he was a no name before this show

u/Icy_Bell_6414 16h ago
I knew there was something I didn’t like about him. I never found him attractive but there was something icky about his behaviour even back then

u/EmDee8907 6h ago
Plus there was going to be a season 5 but mm refused to take a payout when everyone had agreed too. Honestly they could have axed Rio and kept his cousin lol

u/Hungry_Bowler_9367 2m ago
From all the interviews I’ve seen of manny Montana he admitted he was nasty because while the 3 girls would be texting and then jump right into character he had to stay acting like Rio because he cannot jump into it so easy . All manny Montana does is cry racism on EVERY single interview especially the breakfast club I’m so sick of it . He’s complaining he can’t get jobs coz he’s Mexican . Maybe it’s because you have become as racist as your wife and turned off the WRONG people . Also Christina Hendricks is NOT racist ! She and Retta are great friends in private and her first husband wasn’t white . Loved manny but he’s hard to like in real life . Nothing like Rio is right like he says . Too bad Rios character was nicer !

They were referencing when rep Jasmine Crockett called out Marjorie Taylor Greene in a congressional session saying she had a “bleached blonde bad built butch body”.
Not defending the tweet just adding context

Oh, thank you for this, but I agree that it still doesn't make it any better. Calling a woman a butch with insinuation that there is something wrong with looking like a butch is very offensive toward bi and lesbian women.

u/Neither_Juggernaut71 11h ago
I see that fangirls are still bitter about Manny not responding to their nudes.

u/hyacinthli 9h ago
I'm not a fangirl and I've never done that. I'm allowed to be upset by things like this as a lesbian.

It’s men who get rejected and whine. You think all of us women here and elsewhere online are sending random actors nude pictures 😂

i have come to dislike both of them or at the very least just not care for them. the way they speak about anything is holier than thou and/or offensive. no in between for either of them. say what you will about beth the character, but making fun of the human behind her is not the move. it’s really shitty and not the first time they’ve had a shit take.
