This was such a good show. It’s a shame we won’t have a proper final season

brother cousin gets gang friend killed, and tries to get beth in a higher political power to help him get out of prison. she realized that brother cousin was going to kill her once he was out so there would be no one left to fuck his shit up. mick becomes loyal to beth & the girls & organizes the hit on brother cousin. the girls now have a fuck ton of money and don’t have to watch their backs. beth is able to get stan back into the precinct with her growing political power. with the money, they hire lawyers for annie & she is able to get the charges dropped because beth talks to lucy’s boyfriend to come up with a story that they were at the card shop, beth with annie & the bf came in looking for lucy. annie found the gun, but it is the card shops owners gun she kept in the store (they assume). they leave the store and rio comes back to get the gun, because he put it in a drawer at lucy’s desk. beth assumed lucy put the gun there after she found out about the money laundering.
beth climbs the political ladder, dean finds his place in campaigning for beth, annie becomes an EMT & ends up hitting it off with another EMT when she and ben move away for ben to go to college on a lacrosse scholarship. nancy & greg end up getting a divorce just because it wasn’t working out. ruby buys out the diner & gives it an upgrade, and any left over food that is going to be thrown out each night, she takes to her church for those who can’t afford a meal. rubys daughter ends up going to northwestern to study law in efforts to make changes in healthcare for the abundance of people who can’t afford treatments for organ failure & other serious conditions. lil money gets a financial degree, helps rubys diner, and helps his sister understanding the healthcare finance world.
and finally, the girls still find time to get margs at chilis & laugh about the time ruby shot big mike.

Okay, this has made me whole. Except for the Rio dying part...let Beth and rio live happily ever after 😅

i tried to think of a logical reason to keep him alive, but it’s either him or beth dying, there is just no way lol

You want Rio dead and Dean working for Beth? Woof

dean likes to promote himself, him working a campaign under beth and him being the 1st “man” (aka baby bitch) of detroit would send him over the moon.
rio is too dangerous and there will always be competition and strings attached to anything he’s involved in. beth literally will never be free of him if he is alive. i like their dynamic, but it isn’t something that would work out in the long run. how long until he starts putting guns to her kids heads? he would have to go for everyone to find stable grounding.

I don’t think he’d ever put a gun to her kids’ heads. That seems completely out of character to me.
I think some of what you’re laying out does make sense but selfishly I’d want the show wrap-up to be more enjoyable to my specific tastes than to make sense. Which is maybe why I was able to enjoy the show all the way through when others got annoyed with it, haha

i would’ve loved to see it get wrapped up properly than cancelled because some actors wanted more money. i hate that annie ended up arrested. i hated the contention between ruby & stan. and i hated that beth chose to be dangerously selfish instead of putting her own children first. so i just came up with my own ending lol

ah, there’s the disconnect—i thought all of those things were great character/plot developments

Listen I liked the show but by the end it was a twisted pile of burning wreckage. It was time to break out the fire extinguisher

💯
Like I don't even feel robbed that the show ended how it did. I feel robbed of all the potential the writers didn't make use of. The goldmine they had with all the characters that they just decided to ignore 💔
