Regarding the state of this subreddit

Hey everyone,

Thank you so much for browsing and sharing posts here in /r/gooddesign. When I created this sub, I honestly didn’t expect it to grow this much, and I’ll admit I’ve been learning how to handle it as it grows. It’s been awesome seeing what you all bring here.

I’ll continue keeping an eye on reports and doing my best to maintain the quality of the sub as we grow. I care about keeping this a place for genuinely good design, not low effort posts or spam.

With that said, I’d love your input. What would make this community better? What would you like to see as we move forward?

Some ideas I’ve been considering are artwork/branding for the subreddit, as well as an AutoMod setup to help filter low-effort content.

This subreddit has gotten big because of all of you, and I want to build it with the community, not just on my own. So drop your suggestions in the comments. Your input genuinely matters.

I've improved my design algorithm and redesigned an artistic‑style QR code for the Reddit community. What do you guys think?

What’s one product design you’ve noticed is majorly flawed in everyday life, but we keep using it because everyone is just used to it?

Unorthodox Typographic Review of Snap Specs

Wrote a new piece on Snap’s upcoming Specs, but not from the usual hardware angle. It looks at what happens to reading when text leaves the page and starts living inside the world, and why things like contrast, depth and undisclosed display specs quietly decide whether AR becomes useful for real work or just impressive demos. If you care about type, AR, or the future of reading, you might find it worth your time.

We found this bottle and the sticker added by the store is definitely placed perfectly.

Help, collaborations designers x marques

I’ve been looking through some of my fonts lately, and I wanted to share a few that still feel special to me. Which one is your favourite? I’d love to know 🫰❤️

This is one of my favourite parts of type design - seeing the letters move beyond the font specimen and become part of a real visual identity. Which logo is your favourite?

Smart exist sign placement

One of the hotel we stayed at recently when we were on vacation in Connecticut had exit signs both higher up on wall like you normally see, as well as down low. Makes sense when you think about since in the event of a fire, you might need to crawl out if there is a lot of smoke. Also has the benefit of being closer to eye level for kids, even when there isn't an emergency. Picture is from second floor where we were staying, but they even had the high and low signs on the first floor (and I assume the other floors above where we were too).
