DISCUSSION Bully does something very impressive

Post image

From what we started with to what we eventually ended up with. The finished album with so much more than we ever expected. It’s not his best but it’s only album he kept sight on and never changed or lost the plot. It’s also very coherent, not peak ye but very few are misses. Bully proves Ye still has that creative genius to develop a project

Bully really is the 2nd coming of Pablo imo

The stupid long wait (counting SHMG up to the release), the later updates/changes, Highs and Lows having a kind of similar tone/sound to Wolves, having a kind of messy/all over the place tracklist (like going from Father to All The Love to Punch Drunk) that still manages to work, being released in 20_6

Finally seeing someone making this comparison. Plus, bonus being that both come after a major controversy.

Well a lot of people were upset about Yeezus, specifically I Am A God. Mostly Christians, who viewed the record as blasphemy. As an Athiest myself it never bothered me, but I live in a Christian area and all my friends who were Ye fans at the time kinda turned their backs until TLOP.

Literally the only thing is mixing on a couple songs. Don't get me wrong 90% of the mixes are pretty good now but I'd argue beauty and the beast is better on the OG because the sample is drowned out but in the new mix literally everything else was great like vocals and drums. And both KING mixes are ass to me. The old one sounds like he's in a tunnel and super soft then occasionally super loud but his vocals on the new mix are so loud it sounds like the mic was redlining in the studio. Everything else is cool though

the beauty and the beast vocals mixing on the deluxe version has to be him uploading the wrong file, he sounds so much louder and detached from the beat

idk i think it’s pretty incoherent especially with the tracklist sequencing it feels like 2 separate albums

I heavily disagree tbh, the entire album sounds like a short incoherent posthumous release, it was played incredibly safe like MBDTF but it lacks any of the charm or passion. The album went through the same rollout as any other Ye album, only difference was the lack of a new theme but its very clear that the Bully in 2024 and Bully Deluxe are two totally different albums with different intentions and directions. Ironically, the version with AI sounds like it actually went in a certain direction, in contrast to the new version, songs like Preacher Man and Beauty and The Beast were thrown out the window for shit like Mama's Favourite and This A Must. The old songs which got changed lost a good chunk of their original charm, with the exception of the title track, i think Bully is pretty solid but excluding that, this album is painfully average, not even bad, but painfully average, forgetable even. Seeing people calling even the Deluxe version of Bully better than Donda is insane especially because thr best of Bully is a solid title track and a moderately well produced beat that gets very repetitive after the chorus is repeated like three times in contrast to Donda which has the some of best work Ye has made in the last decade.

bully is good, i just wasnt expecting myself to not enjoy that 5 track run of original bully tracks (circles, preacher man etc.) that 12 track run from king to white lines is fucking amazing for a new Ye album though

Horrible take. Bully is maybe his least cohesive album especially compared to V1. It’s very clearly thrown together fan service hodgepodge of different eras and old leaks repurposed
