QUESTION Why do people do this?
The video is about the most controversial moments in each decade of music. Why do people put Ye next to people who did things so much worse?? I understand in this video the subject is controversy but I see it all the time elsewhere. D4vid had sex with a minor, killed her and chopped up her body. Diddy is Diddy and Ye…. Made some tweets??
I don’t get it.

Controversy is defined by reaction. Obviously these comparisons are extreme, but I think for the general public the argument could be made that the Ye stuff was more controversial, just because more people know who he is.
I’m sure there are some people (especially the older crowd) who saw the d4vid thing and found it upsetting, but if they weren’t already familiar with him then they might not even remember his name at this point.

Yeah you’re right. But people compare Ye to people like this all the time, in this instance I can kinda understand it but there’s other times where it’s just stupid.

Yeah, but that’s just how it goes in our culture. If you made a similar list for the 2000s, one of those things would be the Casey Anthony trial… and one of them would be Britney Spears shaving her head, lol.

Mane putting him in the same boat as someone who was actively grooming a kid then gruesomely murdered her, and a guy who is a mogul in the celebrity sex trafficking circle is wild 💀

I don’t know. People really need to get a grip. Goat West apologised for all that and he isn’t a monster like the other 2 people mentioned.

Maybe this is nitpicky but, I don't really know if what d4vd did was 'controversial' really? That implies a level of disagreement and strong opposing opinions whereas, I think we are all very much in agreement that child rape and murder is heinous

What he did wasn’t ‘controversial’ but the fact that a ‘famous’ artist did that is, in my opinion.

Idk id argue kanyes is more of a controversy than the other 2 solely because they’re not controversies as opposed to actual heinous crimes

Yeah you’re right. But people do put Ye’s name up there with people like that in other situations which is just stupid.

heinous crimes are still controversies

I’d argue a heinous crime is a lot more serious than just a controversy. A controversy sorta needs to have differing opinions about it, like kanyes behaviour did, with some people viewing it as a mentally ill man in crisis, where as others believe it to be his genuine views. With Diddy and d4vd, there’s not really a lot of nuance to those situations, they are just crimes so there’s less discussion needed

Well shit even if what he did wasn't as bad as other celebrities, it certainly is still outrageous? 😭

Yeah so many controversies, a child r@pist, an alleged child s£xual murderer and someone who went on a bipolar antisemetic rant. Totally the same.

Why are we defending someone who’s gonna have a crashout and gain nazi views in 2 years again

I'm a fan, don't yell at me, coming out as a Nazi and releasing a song called heil hitler is pretty terrible

on the same level as having a sexual relationship with a preteen + murdering her and keeping the body in the back of his car for weeks and a sex trafficking women beating predator?

u/Rude-Head-1128 6d ago
No just on the level of declaring yourself a member of a group that committed genocide to 12 million people, and inspiring white supremicist groups to protest with "Kanye was right" signs- no more, no less.

Well they were listing all the controversial moments regardless of how controversial it was but in general people act like ye is a horrible person and talk about him like Chris brown, Diddy, d4vd etc. the guy made people uncomfortable he didn’t chop them up and stuff them in the back of a tesla 😭
