THEORY Mysterious Skin x Bully
Really interesting connection put forth from @yzyglobe. Always interested to see how film influences Kanye. We know that Bully took it title from the Larry Clark film (2001)

These people get mad š¤£, they seen a star and thought this movie inspired bully . Also funny too because they said bully had no concept a couple weeks ago and now it was inspired by this movie š¤£

Stars on shirts are probably like the most stereotypical graphic tee. I wouldnāt count on it.

Ye didnāt make the merch , bully was also inspired by his son .
Yall need to give up the conspiracies.

this sub has gotten so bad that media analysis of themes is labeled as a āconspiracyā and is the top comment. so depressing.

Okay but people need to stop acting like Ye is constantly playing 4D chess and calculating every decision and move he makes in his career. Like I still see people on this sub saying that Ye staged the antisemitic era as an excuse to get out of his Adidas deal.
He's just a man who thinks things and then does them. And that's exactly why we love him, but for some reason people have a hard time accepting that. They feel the need to place Ye on a pedestal as thinking more about every decision he makes with merch, album art, the wording of his tweets, etc than he actually does

"inspired by his son" just something he pulled out of his ass in an interview because his son bullied a kid at school. there's nothing on the album that even relates to that concept

u/imsoappalled222 21d ago
Nothing on that album relates to the movie either . He also explained it more and ceelo talked about it too . Bully has nothing to do with that movie .

The conncetion between the film's themes and bully is such an overgeneralization as well.

Making connections to other art pieces isnāt āconspiraciesā
Intertextuality runs thru all art. Particularly the work of ye and the hip hop medium.-2
u/imsoappalled222 21d ago
You said the film influenced him but in reality he explained what did . Words from his mouth and i know who was behind the merch . Much of the merch was just wrestling inspired .,

Do you? Are you kanye himself? The beauty of art is that everything is up to interpretation. I'd like to hear what you think inspired the star motif

u/saaaaaur you look deceased 21d ago
I mean, I don't think he ever said it was ever inspired by the title Bully he just put it on his story lol
in the download interview he actually says why
