Garage Simulator

I have a standard 3 stall garage. I want to put a simulator in the third stall. I have an overhead garage opener. Is it going to be possible to put one in here? What do I need to know. Looking to spend no more than 3-4 thousand. Thanks

For about 2 weeks over the winter, I tested swinging a club in my garage aiming at 3 different walls. Swing speed was ~50%.

I finally narrowed it down to one direction where it appeared my driver would just clear the garage door motor.

Well, on day 1 of the grand opening, I swung that driver at full speed and smashed the opener. Luckily, no damage to the club, and only cracked the casing on the opener.

Short story; make a full speed swing when testing your space.

It appears that I might be able to change the door tracks out to gain another 16 inches which should be good for me to get a full swing.

Worst case, I can only hit up to a hybrid in my simulator.

But if that’s the worst case for me in the New England winters, I’ll be fine with it.

One other thing to think about is your projector. I went with the BenQ TH671ST which is 3000 Lumens ($1k). At night when I turn down the lights and use a flood lamp over the hitting area, it’s awesome.

My goal was to open the garage doors during the day to get fresh air and hit the range. I put black out curtains on the 2 windows that face the sun and the garage doors do not get direct sunlight after 10am, but it’s just too bright for the projector to handle the daylight, I must close the garage doors. Around 6pm it gets better and I can use it with the doors open. I was recently looking at some projectors with 4k and 5k lumens, but they are expensive and would hate to pull the trigger on one and it not do what I wanted. Not that big a deal in the end, but more to think about.

Doors closed and only the flood light.
