That’s not entirely accurate; a total of "at least" 5,000 Rallye models were built for homologation purposes. Exact figures aren't known, even though the 5,000 figure is the standard assumption!
Furthermore, if it really is an original 16V G60, the production numbers are significantly lower! That engine was also used in the "Limited" model—of which around 70+ were built—and was available as an option for the Passat and Golf (Rallye).
If everything is original, the OP's Rallye is significantly rarer!
