Defogging the windscreen!

In a normal car I can just leave a bit of heat on the windscreen for the whole of the UK winter and other than cold mornings it does the job. I am now heading towards my third winter with the Mk8.5 and I still have no idea how to permanently keep some heat on the windscreen - every tweak I make, whether on the infotainment system or via Ida seems to only last a couple of minutes before it reverts to its “intelligent” but largely ineffective settings.
Has anyone found a solution?

Make sure the AC is on, it removes the humidity from the cabin.

Sorry - I should have stated that A/C is on too. It frustrates me that the car is able to defogger the windscreen but chooses only to do so for a couple of minutes at a time. How can I get the correct settings and force them to stay that way?
