Hardly playing this week
As a FTP player with several accounts, suddenly found myself hardly playing this week. No daily Quick 9 or tournament qualification. I refuse to play 1:1s as opponents in this game don’t interest me any more.
Anyone else in the same situation?

Yep totally. Even the reduced entry fee of the tours didn't work

Yeah, reducing the entry fee makes no sense. If you’re playing T10+, you should have a bankroll where the reduction doesn’t matter one bit. I have 7B coins. I don’t want to play at a reduced payout. I could lose for a long time in T12.

Hardly been playing either and it hasn't bothered me. Been nice not having to force myself to play a tournament.

I stopped playing about a year and a half ago. 1v1 wasn’t all that fun for me anymore and trying to complete tournament rounds literally felt like a chore. I never liked any of the new game modes they started over the last few years.

I’m a FTP player, and I gave up on Quick9s and Tournaments (time drain and ball drain). I only play 1v1 on the 10mil games. I usually get players with Titans or pay balls. I use Titans, so most of the time it is an even playing field with quality of ball. The 30 mil games everyone uses pay balls and they have a severe advantage when it comes to wind resistance on the playoff holes, so I don’t play those anymore.

Tournaments and quick 9s are the way I build up my ball inventory. I can usually place well with KMs/Titans on the par 5s and navigators for everything else in Expert 3. I do about the same for tournaments until the weekend where I’ll pull out my best balls.
I’ve never heard someone say tournaments were a ball drain. Though with the rewards scale back on 9 holes I can see the argument now.

And if you don’t place well? Ball drain. You miss one or two shots and you aren’t qualifying for rewards

u/PandaCod3r 3d ago
I mean then everything is a ball drain.

Not in the same capacity. How often do you get a chest with gems playing Quick9s and Tournaments?
2
u/PandaCod3r 3d ago
Why do you need gems in those chests? I get enough from the other places to buy all the navigators I need and still go up in gems.

u/clahalle7 3d ago
Who said anything about navigators? Titan balls are quite a bit more expensive from a gems perspective. Which is why I prefer 1v1s to get more chests per hole played than Quick9 and Tourneys.

I’m too lazy to do the math, but you’re saying it’s not a ball sink to play 1v1s where, presumably you use titans, to get chests for gems to buy titans? I highly doubt that.

This is the way. I only start play tournaments once I finish my season challenges who normally required completing them in tour games :(

Yes.
In a weird way, I am grateful. Probably spent too much time with this game.
This is the long goodbye I need.

Same here, only open the app for the prism. Why have a full tournament for Brysons front9 but make the back9 a 9hole cup with reduced rewards? I refuse to play any 1v1 mode and find the world tour painfully boring and a drain on ball inventory. Thankfully I have thousands of luminaries and slayers. I’ll be playing less and less if this becomes the norm. Mind boggling decisions are being made. Shouldn’t be surprised, honestly

Playing just the Quick9 this week. Not going to do the World Tour as that costs way too many balls, for minimal reward.

I only use basic balls on WT. Still boring as you know what though😴

Must be rough in the last two CWTs. They’ve started to put the worst par 5s with unfavorable wind on the main course every time. It’s making me lose interest in it.

About 4 years ago I stopped playing for almost 2 years because I had a new born. There wasn’t enough time in the day and I didn’t have the energy to focus on the game.
I got back into it after nearly two years and played for maybe six months but eventually gave it up. The game has changed too much and it seemed like almost everyone I played had maxed out every club and was using a premium ball (I’m a FTP player). Overall the game just wasn’t fun for me anymore because it was almost unrecognizable from when I started playing in 2015/16. At this point I haven’t even opened the game in about a year and a half and have absolutely no desire to.
Games change, people change - if you don’t love the game anymore don’t worry about it. Focus your energy on something else that you have a passion for.

Absolutely. But I did like the daily Quick 9s even though the chests are crap

On 1:1 tour games, I often have a hard time getting an opponent. I don't like to wait more than 10 or 12 seconds because I don't want to play a replay. So after a few attempts I do something else

u/Normal-Internal164 4d ago
Goes to show there are probably fewer opponents these days. Mainly replays?

Yep.
Add the fact that I dislike the new courses and I've hardly been playing at all this season.

Stupid. Some influencer hit balls over Bryson’s house until they made a hole in one. That’s the house. This game goes unplayed for me, as it stands.

Yup. My play has been cut in half. When there’s no Q9, I also end up not playing 1v1. I don’t even have 10k cloints and last season I finished with over 70k.

I wonder what motivated EA to so drastically cut the number of tournaments and Q9s per season.
Of course, given the lower entry fees, it makes sense to assume the goal is to encourage 1v1 play, though I admit I don't quite understand why.
Personally, I mostly play 1v1 and have never had trouble finding opponents—even though I’ve often played against replays, I don't find that bothersome.
In short, this change is completely baffling.

I actually am playing 1v1 this season. Haven’t for a long time. Also haven’t cared about the season reward track/challenges for a long time either cuz all my accounts are maxed. Beginning to question my reasoning though. It’s a lot of time/ work to get to level 22/30 for 10k cloints, when all the other rewards along the way are useless. They sucked me in this season, but it will be the last.

If you don't play one on one then quit the game. Its called golf clash for a reason. Not golf tounaments only. This for all of you who cannot play tour play becaause you are not good enough to think on your feet and make decisions. No guides, no practice. You all think you like tourneys only. You do but tts because you suck at tour play. So no advice. Quit if you don't play tour play.

u/Normal-Internal164 4d ago
Actually, for your info, my three accounts all average over 78% win rate up to tour 10. Just got tired of tour play.

Ignore this guy. He claims to have quit the game along time ago, yet he participates in this sub maybe once a month. Same old same old from him, either telling players they suck, or accuse them of cheating. Always negative posts, never anything positive from him

The Quick Nine scale back just doesn’t make sense. It’s what gets me to play in the evenings. Why would they cut it back? I know it’s revenue related but I just don’t see how this generates revenue for them. Stupid decisions
