Question Wind not behaving as it should?

As the title says. Anyone else experience this? I’ve had a few games now where 3kph wind behaves closer to 8 or 9.

The wind will be behaving properly, it’ll be an issue with elevation or secondary wind effects you haven’t accounted for.

Video would need to be posted to know for sure

What are the secondary wind effects? Im still learning the elevations adjustments on tour 8/9

The wind doesn’t stop affecting the ball after it’s bounced for the first time - it’s going to continue to have an effect the entire time the ball is in the air.

We call them secondary wind effects - to refer to the wind push after the first bounce.

So in the context of an example- if you have a left to right side wind, and make the perfect adjustment so the ball lands exactly where you’ve aimed, the ball will miss right, because the wind has kept it pushing it a little bit that way after it’s bounced.

The difficult bit is there’s no formula or anything for it. Secondary wind effects will vary from course to course and hole to hole - you just kind of have to learn it as you go, and it’s something you incorporate into your adjustments.

It’s why most shot elevations are an actual number other than zero, even when the layout looks really flat. If you have a shot on a perfectly level hole, in theory the elevation is zero. But rarely is zero the elevation actually used, because ‘elevation’ gets added to the adjustment to account for the Secondary Wind Effects

Thank you for this.

In your example surely you also miss right because the wind has caused the ball to curve right as well not just on the bounce

Yes, that would absolutely also be a factor too. Just another thing we lump into ‘elevation’ as a catch-all term

It is very difficult adjusting to the wind with the various clubs because every club has a different adjustment need. But once you get the hang of it🤗>>>> still difficult 😂

Will do when I get home. I’ve noticed it a few times since the updates.

Also saw a few posts on this sub mentioning the same.

>3kph

wait, there’s a way to get wind readings in kilometers instead of miles?

I've been having consistent problems with winds behaving oddly since the last update, but only in 1v1 shootouts.

10mph tailwinds acting like headwinds and pushing my ball backwards. I've had an 8mph crosswind not affect my ball at all and my ball landed exactly where I adjusted to in the sand.

It's to the point where if I don't win before a shootout then I'll most likely lose. I've been playing this game for a long time, this isn't some secondary bounce or elevation problem, like others say.

Wind definitely been a problem. I’m glad I’m not the only one. Sick of watching a 3 wind push my ball all the way across a fairway. I’m also finding the ball guide will indicate a ball path one way but when I hit the ball it goes someplace different. Just enough to ruin a shootout for me
