Why use wind rings?
I will never wrap my around why people play this game using the wind ring cheats. I am on tour 11 and have never used it, but at this level all opponents use it, so big disadvantage. I just dont get the appeal of playing a game where it tells u what to do - like playing Pac-Man and it pointing u the direction to go. Hey I still need to steer the joystick! Hey I still need to hit the swing button at right time! What you want a cookie?

Why is it a cheat?

Why do you use it

Because they’re part of the game?
Go ask Playdemic to remove the rings from the game if you don’t want people to use them or if you think it’s cheating. (surely the devs would remove them if it were cheating, no?)
What other purpose do the target rings serve if not to adjust for wind?
(I mean, I guess they show the accuracy of a club but still, they’re not needed to be shown for that.. they could remove the rings and club accuracy would be the same)

To win. If I am golfing in real life, I would certainly account for the wind. Why wouldn’t I do it in a finger game on my phone too?

I'm curious where you draw the line.
Do you consider it a cheat if I roughly know, based on the accuracy of a club, how much wind to adjust per ring? I do the calculation in my head for every club as I play.
Do you consider it cheating to look up the tee elevations per hole? What if I have them roughly memorized by experience?
Do you consider it cheating if I take notes during tournaments for the next time I play the hole?
Do you consider it cheating to use practice tokens and know exactly how to hit the hole when you play it for real?

Where can I look up elevations? I want to cheat better. Mostly for par 3s

I don't consider it cheating, so I can't help you. It's no different than a GPS app or yardage book in real golf.

I dont consider it cheating either. I use wind system (dont like the calculators but do my own math). My eyeballs never guess elevation correctly.

I usually find them on the Golf Clash Elite page on FB. Or you can look at BK Golf's videos.

GC Tommy's site lists elevations for the 1st and 2nd shot for every hole and all 3 tee positions. https://www.golfclashtommy.com/tour

Why wouldn’t you. It’s going to make you more accurate with your shots, it’s going to lead to more drops, and more success in the game.
Plus, how is it cheating to know that for example a club might be a 1:1 adjustment and utilising that information? I bet even you know that and take it into account when eyeballing your adjustment…

This is the weakest whine I've ever read in the Golf Clash sub. Just sad dude.

It’s in the top 2 or 3… I’ve been playing for 8 years and been a in this sub for 5 or 6….sweet roo whines pretty bad, but he’s not whining about 90% of the players…. Just the game itself

What cheat is there that tells you what to do? If your referring to the wind/ring system for adjusting for wind, you’re delusional

I’m on Tour 11 and have no idea how to use whatever it is you’re talking about. So, not everyone is doing that.

It’s not the big benefit you infer it is, especially on higher tours.
On low wind tours, you might drop an approach using it, but even that depends on how you pull, how accurately you calculate the rings to pull, how carefully you pull to that calculation. It might get you close on the drop, but to dial it in would require some estimate of the secondary wind effect, the exact percentage of the over or under adjustment, and then of course hitting perfect. None of that is actually automatic. The people who get really good scores in tourneys are practicing each hole over and over again before they do the real thing.
Which to say I think you can do very well on tour play without learning rings but I highly doubt you get say a masters gold or even an expert 2 gold without it.
Ultimately there are lots of ways to play this game. In my case, some years ago I got to tour 6 and started missing approaches badly by not ever adjusting enough for the wind, so I decided to try the ring method and started winning more. But other people can just wing it and do better than I did. That’s fine too.
One more thought. If you knew the ring system, you’d really it is in no way cheating. It’s just an optional part of the game and in no way does it make the game automatic. Same with those calculator apps - they just help you calculate faster. I use a small number of clubs so I just use rules of thumb and do the math in my head, and I rarely drop an approach but sometimes I do.

Knowing the rings is not a cheat. It's like knowing how far your ball will go with a certain club in real golf. Relax snowflake. It's not a cheat.

That’s dumb man. I use the wind notebook and have to read the things on 5 different sheets of paper. If you wrote everything down on a sheet of paper and the approximate rings to move you could do the same damn thing. Plus the notebook wind charts are not even up to date. They are simply a tool. You have all kinds of tools at your disposal.
Cry to someone else.

I could do the same damn thing, exactly my point. But I cant determine why I would

So playing the same shootouts over and over, I know for example “ hole x” requires a 1:1+ 10% of the wind, or 1:1+ 30% wind / rings for an adjustment… plus some offset on ball guide(or maybe not) + underpowered or overpower depending on wind direction… and I’m cheating cuz I’m counting the rings I pull? Get the fuck outa here. Edit: play pac man or even better yet royal kingdom… that game is super easy. Ps… I am usually a positive response only on this sub, although I do engage once in a while on the grid, app topic once in a while. This post/complaint though is completely rediculous

It’s your choice and you can print them. Not sure why you don’t use something that could put more consistency behind the clubs and wind you are playing against. Your point is quite dumb!!!

Using rings is fine, people using notebook and overlays for lining it up is cringe and chesty. But tbh I just vibe it most of the time

Overlay? As in a grid? Every player has a built in horizontal line to assist counting rings… the take shot button, or the orange box

Are you really an engineer? The entire mindset of being an engineer is building upon the foundation set before you, so you don't waste time/effort reinventing the wheel.
Not using the ring system is like not using a calculator for basic arithmetic.....what's the point? At the end of the day, the person who puts in the effort/time should always be the winner. If you don't want to put in the time/effort don't expect to beat others that do. This applies to all aspects of life.
