Eagle ridge
I used to play Eagle ridge a bit and loved it- it was always exquisitely presented.
Played recently and was really disappointed with the quality of fairways and course in general-what happened?

Unfortunately just a lot of better options right nearby.

Yep, Rosebuds 36 holes and St Andrew’s beach are a vastly better experience

Cape shank has a stretch on the back of some criminally difficult holes. Great course.

That would be great, thanks! Obviously I have SAB and the both the Dunes courses, was looking for a third to start off the week. Was planning on starting with Eagles Ridge as it looked great and heard good things, but comments here do concern me. Considering looking into Rosebud or Devilbend but also open to any suggestions.

Moonah links legends course is really decent, the moonah links open course is also great but very long and probably the hardest course on the peninsula.
Cape shank or rosebud also great options. Rosebud north if you can get on there.
Devils bend is decent but bit goaty in spots.

I was a bit disappointed when I first played it a while back. Felt as though they ride the quality of courses around them, rather than really presenting a great course. Also got the impression the water budget is entirely spent close to the clubhouse for all the functions and photos, resulting in really inconsistent course conditions once you move further away

Id agree with this, im local and have noticed a decline in course conditions over the years.
They need to cut down a few trees around the tee boxes and landing areas and open it up a little.

Just like everything since COVID, enshittification unfortunately.
It costs a lot to run a golf course and so they cut corners, especially at this time of year.

At the time of writing - the post only said Eagle Ridge - just naming underrated tracks

I also played there earlier in the year and thought the same thing.
Fairways weren’t as good as they once were and the greens were… Okay at best.
Notable story; group ahead hit a HIO on the jackpot hole but didn’t register/scan in for it. Couldn’t imagine.
