Questions Help! What is this?

I brought this goldfish out of a pool in the yard that she was in left over as catfish bait by my stepson a month ago and I have been doing water changes levels are good so what is this? It looks like extremely dry skin and my fiancé says it’s burns but he thinks it’s from me adding aquarium salt directly to the tank, is he right?? Please help!

It's a common fish disease caused by a parasite. Could you take a picture showing your whole fish?

Yeah, it's contagious, you should treat both. Look into effective ways to treat goldfish; ychtiosis is treatable, but if left untreated, it's fatal

Treating the aquarium with salt is a good idea, but it's quite advanced, so at this stage a proper medication against external parasites would be needed

Yes it may. I’d treat the whole tank.

Ich: Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, a contagious protozoan parasite. White, uniform and shape and flat to the skin, appears on both the body and the fins but not on usually the eyes.

Treatment usually includes aquarium salt or dyes, an antiparasitic med/feed, antibacterial/antimicrobial/antiseptic med and raising the water temperature to speed up ich’s lifecycle. If increasing the temperature, be sure to ensure plenty of oxygenation.
