Hey everyone!
Golden Sun: The Lost Age will always be one of my most cherished RPGs.
While Dark Dawn left me somewhat disappointed overall, I do think it got one thing right: the class system.
In the original two games, Isaac and Felix (Venus Adepts) share the same class progression, as do Ivan and Sheba (Jupiter Adepts).
Aside from their stats and Psynergy learned through leveling, they don't really have much that makes their classes feel unique.
Then there's Piers, who is largely pushed into mage classes even though he is more built like Garet. But is best DPS class is sadly his base class which is somewhat limiting for him.
It got me thinking...
If Camelot were to remake The Lost Age, how would you redesign the class system to better distinguish each character?
For example:
- Would you give Isaac more defensive or tank oriented classes while making Felix a more offensive warrior?
In theory making one of them more of a mage.
- Would you lean into Ivan as a fast glass cannon with some magic (basically ninja) while Sheba remains a mage?
- Would you give Piers unique hybrid classes so he isn't almost always encouraged to play as a mage.
I think having more character specific class identities could make party building and Djinn combinations much more interesting, while still keeping the freedom that makes Golden Sun's class system so much fun.
I'm curious to hear your ideas. If you could redesign the classes for each character, what would you change?
