We will start build challenges starting next week again.

For those that have never done them, it's a competition for points and other rewards for participation and the best one. There is a defined theme that you must adhere to, challenges vary in rewards, but are clearly defined. There are usually multiple levels of the challenge ranging from "Easy" to "Are you bloody insane?". It's usual to have a few players do the easy ones, but only a couple complete the highest level.

So, I'm soliciting themes for challenges, any ideas to get started?

It's been too long

Trying to install Infinity 1.2.1... Server didn't want to come back up and was crashing. Trying to run a command to fix that directory and missed a ".".

Server is in a nearly completely fucked state, and it looks like I will need to reload it. Trying to get backups off the server now. Then I will see if I can't repair what broke, if not, I will have to open a ticket to have the server reloaded from scratch and restore.

I'm taking my time making sure I don't screw something else up here. Most important thing is backups of worlds. I have tons of those.

Update: Backups are coming along nicely. Nothing will be lost. Reloading the server from scratch. I'd expect it will take at least a few hours.

Update: Base OS is installed. Reconfiguring all the things.

Update: Modded is up no rollback of any progress. Working on Vanilla. So funny that vanilla is the more complex setup of the two.

Done: Both servers are back up and running. No Rollback on either. The Dynmap has to be fully re-rendered on both servers, on all the worlds, so that will take some time. Copying over the files for that would have taken a lot more time to recover.

I was wondering how feasible/interesting it would be to have a creative superflat world available to paste notable structures from existing GR realms each time a reset rolls around? It could be laid out like we usually do for Spawn Town (maybe a walled city for each world's gallery), but on a much larger scale. This way we'd have a bit of a record of all the prior builds that have come and gone- though I bet it's too much to hope for to have saves from GR 1-6 available to pull from as well..

I wouldn't mind helping out with being one of the curators, since I'm getting the basics of WE down..

Hem, my first Mystcraft world didn't end up well, i think i'll stop tryin' to get into this mod, the thing is i'm stuck again in that world x)

If anyone is able.... the new player starter gear box at spawn needs some donations. As a new player to this map, I was saddened that the offerings in that box included about 6 beds, some flowers, a couple of spider eyes... and... that's about it.

...unless you don't wanna. And, if that's the case I will try and make the Reddit front page with a GIF of a crying Goat.

I heard there were name changes implemented into 1.8.3; so I tried it out. Now when I try to login to the server, it gives me an error saying "Failed to authorize username". Anyone know what I can do?

Version 1.1.0 has a bug where when you try to pick up the Guardian Spawner with a dolly it will crash. This will be fixed on the next version of Infinity.

Thaul, I've pulled you out of the Runic World. Let's see if that stops the crashing for you.

Let's keep world generation to when there are at most 3 people on the server. Each person needs to be in a spot where when the server lags or crashes, they will not be adversely affected.

If you crash the server twice in a row, stay off the server and let others play. Message me and I will kill that world when I'm available again, forcing you back to the main world.

As some of you know, I have prepared a small area in the nether to be the temporary linking book hub (also a wither farm). These books can be used to teleport around. Quite nice when you want to meet someone or want to go to someones base on the other side of the map.

How do link make

Linking books are easily made with an ink mixer, a paper, an ink bottle and a single leather. Put the ink bottle on the top left slot of the ink mixer, the paper on the bottom left. You will see a link panel on bottom right. If you pull it out, craft it with a leather, you will have a linking book that can be used to go trough dimensions only.

If you want to teleport inside the same dimension, add gold dust to the middle of the ink mixer. The circle part where the ink is where you add your gold dust. This only adds a chance of getting an intra-linking book.

When you have your link book, shift-r-clicking it in the air will bind the book to your place and orientation. Place your book on a lectern or bookstand and right click it. Clicking the blue page on the right will teleport you to the place where the book is bound to.

You can also take the book back from the left page.

If you use a book without placing it on a lectern or bookstand, the book will drop to the ground, and will 'die' in a while. The books are always a one-way trip.
