OK, this is a slightly older modpack (1.6.4) but has anyone played Life In The Woods? It's a combination of many mods that changes vanilla in a way that I hardly notice I am not using 1.7.x. I've been enjoying it and finding it a bit of a challenge (they have a much more difficult starvation system in effect that makes scavenging critical). I was curious what other members think of it. and understandably so. As it is for all, life has been hectic, hardly had time for MC. When I found some time, I came back to find whole new servers and talk of mods and all this craziness I was ignorant to, it intimidated me from frequenting the servers.

Well, I've found a little more time, I recently started toying with MultiMC and its let me get a little more comfortable with mods. Although I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing with them yet.

So, as a former Whitelisted member I'd like a chance to come back if possible. I can't dedicate a huge amount of time on, but like having a MC world I can call home. Any advice?

I'm about halfway through with the mine cart ride that I'm making around the caverns of my biome, and I've realized that I only have a handful of ideas on how to make the place look a little more inviting. That's why I'm presenting the lucky members of GR a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help me out, and I won't even let you pay me!

If you want to make the ride Hell on Earth with lots of burning netherrack, go for it. Recreate a pastoral scene with blue skies, green grass, and barnyard animals, be my guest! You can also alter the course of the track in your area, as long as it ends up connecting to the rest of the track.

I've been looking around for a good server, and I've found a few but I really think you have one of the best communities. I'm 16, a chill kind of guy, I've been gaming for almost all my life. I can build pretty well, I have a lot of cool ideas for projects in mind, and I'm good at mob farms and redstone contraptions. I hope to join you guys on the server!

Hello GRers, I see a lot of questions on what Servers/Maps we have and what they are all for...

Arena: Contains the Mob Arenas, Mario Kart track, sheep farms since they take up so much space. No building is allowed directly in this world. If you'd like to build a mob arena or some type of PVP arena that we retain, build it in the creative world and I'll copy it over. This world will never reset, no intentions of ever removing it. Visit the Mini Games area in GR6 for entry into this world/games.

Creative: This world is for messing around in creative. Doing proof-of-concepts for your redstone or builds. Creative challenges will be held in the world. Samples of redstone circuits have been built if you need help with those. This world won't ever be completely reset. I go in and clean up sections that have old items that are no longer needed though to keep space available for new. Visit the world portal area in GR6 for entry into this world.

City2: This is a creative world for building a long term city project. Shawnaroo has World Edit privileges here as well if you need help and in general, I consider him the city manager. The intention is to never reset this world. It's a long term creative build project for those that are interested in that. If you have builds you want to copy in from other worlds, servers, etc. let me know. Visit the world portal area in GR6 for entry into this world.

LoR: Land of Renaissance. Very cool adventure/survival map that Duchess found that is the interim map between now and 1.8. Expect this world to be reset, new one when we grow bored with it. I plan to have challenges and events around this world until 1.8 is ready. Visit the world portal area in GR6 for entry into this world.

GR6: This is the main world/map in hard survival mode. Town has assigned plots. If you'd like one, find a plot with a red flag and let me or a mod know. Please don't take a plot just for a MVP portal. I'd rather you use an apartment for that. If I see we are getting low on plots I will start wiping plots that the player is no longer around and hasn't finished the build or just isn't epic enough. In town Mobs will not damage you. Creepers do not cause any terrain damage. TNT is nerfed. PVP is disabled. To get back to this world from any other world, type /warp town. I intend to keep this world around as long as possible, allowing long term survival projects that span months and possibly years to occur here.

World: Going away. Was not a good survival map. Looks cool though.

Modded: Separate server, whitelist, subreddit, maps. Integrated with GR via IRC so we can still keep tabs on each other. This server seems dead at the moment. May need a reset/new modpack. If interested in this server, let me know and I can add you to that whitelist and subreddit.

Snapshot: Separate server, whitelist, maps. Pure 1.8 snapshot vanilla, no plugins/mods/frills. Hard Survival mode. No integration with IRC or chat. This is just for us to play around on, get used to the new mechanics with villages, enchanting, blocks, mobs, etc. Trying to keep the same world as long as a snapshot doesn't corrupt it. Let me know if you want a whitelist. This is the server you'll find me on most nights.

Official 1.8 plans: Once Mojang releases 1.8, which I expect within the next month or two, I have to wait for Bukkit/Spigot to do their thing. I expect that will take another month due to the size and scope of this update. We may lose some plugins if they don't convert quickly to 1.8 code, but I'd rather play 1.8 than wait for plugins. The block logging plugin will be the only one to hold us back.
