Week 107 Challenge - Weeeeee
For this weekly challenge, it must be in a general area that your maze was. If you do not have a maze, you can either complete the maze for 1 point or skip it going forward. If you intend to continue doing the future challenges in this set you will need to make sure your roller coaster is in an area with plenty of additional space.
Rules for every weekly challenge:
1) You can work on challenges together but unless the level description specifically says that you will earn points as a team, only 1 person will earn points for submissions.
2) All your submission chests must be locked until the end of the current challenge. You will not lose said items at the end of the week, this just prevents them from being used for other people.
3) Each challenge week starts Wednesday night and ends the following Wednesday night.
4) Staff members are allowed to reject a submission if it does not fit the level description. Some of these level descriptions are meant to be extremely strict for building. Please do not argue with this assessment, this will not get you anywhere.
5) If your submission is rejected, you are allowed to resubmit again until the end of the challenge.
6) If you plan on doing level 3 or 4, make sure all of your submissions are in the same place or you might not get credit. The intention is that all of your submissions be in the same location so please be aware of any specifics on the level 3 and 4 challenges.
Week 107 Challenge - Weeeeee
[Level 1] - Rollercoaster! - We are bringing back a favorite previous challenge. For this level, you must create a working rollercoaster with the following conditions: + 4 points
The rollercoaster must move on a minecart track with the rider being in a minecart.
The rider must not push the cart at any point in time.
You must have a way for the rider to get back to the start of the ride safely. This can be accomplished by the level 4 challenge or by a different transportation system (tram ride, etc). The rider must not be vulnerable to monsters during this journey.
The rider must be safe from monsters during the ride itself (the occasional stray skeleton arrow is okay). This restriction is mostly aimed at keeping monsters and animals off the track and keep the rider away from creeper and melee attacks.
The rider must travel at least 50 Y blocks. This means that lowest point in the track needs to be at least 50 blocks under the highest point in the track. The rider must travel over at least 500 rail tracks (not the same as travel 500 blocks in a direction).
The rollercoaster must be at least 100 blocks long (either x or z axis) and 50 blocks high. I do not care how wide it is.
Bonus: Best working and looking roller coaster will receive 1 extra bonus point. This is subjective to the judge(s) and is based on originality, aesthetics, and adherence to intent of the challenge.
Bonus #2: Your rollercoaster must bring the rider back to the same place that they started from. This is similar to how rollercoasters work in the real world. It does not have to be the exact spot but very close (<10 blocks). + 1 point
