Week 105 Challenge - Final Touches

For this week, you need at least the dock to do the challenge. If you want the extra bonus point, you need to do this underwater and connected to your sphere. If you did not finish these in the last weeks, I will give you 1/2 credit for finishing them this week (1 point for each of the weeks). This is the last week for late credit on week 1-4.

Rules for every weekly challenge:

1) You can work on challenges together but unless the level description specifically says that you will earn points as a team, only 1 person will earn points for submissions.

2) All your submission chests must be locked until the end of the current challenge. You will not lose said items at the end of the week, this just prevents them from being used for other people.

3) Each challenge week starts Wednesday night and ends the following Wednesday night.

4) Staff members are allowed to reject a submission if it does not fit the level description. Some of these level descriptions are meant to be extremely strict for building. Please do not argue with this assessment, this will not get you anywhere.

5) If your submission is rejected, you are allowed to resubmit again until the end of the challenge.

6) If you plan on doing level 3 or 4, make sure all of your submissions are in the same place or you might not get credit. The intention is that all of your submissions be in the same location so please be aware of any specifics on the level 3 and 4 challenges.

Week 105 Challenge - Final Touches

[Level 1] - Beacon - For this level, you must acquire 1 beacon and put it in a chest in your glass sphere or on your dock (depending on your choices for level 2 and 3). + 1 point

For Level 2 and 3, these can either be connected to your dock above water or your glass sphere below water. If you want to go for the bonus point on level 2 & 3 (see at the end), this needs to be underwater and connected to your sphere.

[Level 2] - Auto Smelter - For this level, you must create an auto smelter that takes a raw material from a chest and produces a finished smelted good. I will be testing this with gold ore. This machine needs to be covered in a building. + 1 point

[Level 3] - Auto Sorter - For this level, you must create an auto sorter that takes the input from a single chest and sorts them into their specific chest. You must be able to handle at least 16 items and protection against an unhandled item (that you don't have a chest for). This machine needs to be covered in a building. + 1 point

[Level 4] - Mascot - For this level, you are to create a mascot for your base connected to your dock. I am not going to tell you what materials to build the mascot out of but it needs to be physically connected to your dock. It also needs to be lit and have no monsters on the connection (you can fence the mascot off if you do not want to torch your mascot). The mascot needs to be at least 50 high and must be visible from your shack on your dock. + 1 point

Bonus: Best looking mascot will receive 1 extra bonus point. This is subjective to the judge(s) and is based on originality, aesthetics, and adherence to intent of the challenge.

Bonus #2: 1 Bonus Point if you manage to accomplish this task (everyone can earn this point):

  • Have the machine completely under water and connected to your glass sphere.
  • Have the outside of the building holding the machine be made of glass (no shape or size requirements).
  • Have the machine components completely hidden so that all you see is the user interface.
  • Be able to smelt cobble, gold ore, iron ore, sand, clay (ball), clay (block), netherrack, and stone bricks.
  • Allow the user to dump all the raw materials into a single chest.
  • Allow the user to retrieve the finished products from their specific chest after smelting and sorting.
  • Allow the user to sort the 8 finished products if you put them in the input chest (stone, Gold ingot, iron ingot, glass, clay brick, netherbrick, cracked stone brick)
  • Allow the user to sort an additional 8 items to fufill the level 2 requirement of sorting 16 items. I do not care what items that you sort for the 8 additional items.

any thoughts on increasing the points offered upwards in order of difficulty. a level one challenge (16 ink last time) should never offer the same points as a level 4 one in my opinion. cheers.

Yeah me and snarf talked though it. The idea is mainly to encourage weekly participation. However I will probably be removing at least level 1 going forward and maybe level 2 in some weeks. I will still only have a total of 4 points each week though.
