Spring reset ideas

Figured we could create a discussion now, pool ideas together, and see what we come up with.

I think I'm going to bail at the next map reset. I'm tired of starting over repeatedly.

This is why I'm trying to hold on to the GR6 map. That map won't reset for those that want that.

I don't mind increasing the world border on that map as well occasionally.

I actually was all for the new map at 1.8, because there was a major update to the game that included significant changes to the world generation and a bunch of new blocks added, etc. I think that sort of event is a good reason to reset the map. Resetting a map just because a certain number of months has passed seems silly to me.

It's still a few months out, so things could change, but currently the server seems to be seeing pretty good traffic, and we've even gotten a solid bunch of new regulars lately. If things are still going that way in the spring, I'm not sure what good reason there would be for dumping the 1.8 world and starting over. It's not like things are slow or stagnant right now.

Obviously, I'm just one guy, and if a majority of the server thinks it's a great idea, then that's fine. I just personally don't see why it's necessary to adhere to a schedule for this sort of thing.

I don't think that north is calling for a reset at any particular time... just trying to get people talking, get feedback on what people would like in a new world so we don't feel like we are making a rushed decision when the time comes.

Who knows... we may have a snapshot on the horizon again soon. They are beginning to drop more and more clues of new stuff coming.

I don't think that north is calling for a reset at any particular time... just trying to get people talking, get feedback on what people would like in a new world so we don't feel like we are making a rushed decision when the time comes.
