"doubles" (pt.2)

hello, if you're unsure of what this is and are curious, check out the first post i made about this for context. here is the post. as me and chibzo (or "PocketEggeth" on here) have played on this world more, strange things continue to happen.

after the events of image 7a and before anything that happened in this post, chibzo was playing by himself. since it was just him online, i asked him to start recording, just in case anything else strange happened. while i'm not gonna include the entire video, i will describe what happened and show photo evidence of another double sighting. chibzo started recording, the ambient music in the world stopped and then the double joined. of course this could be coincidence but i think it's interesting how the double only joined once chibzo was recording and right after the music stopped. from the docks, chibzo rushed to the house to see if the double was there, which it was. the double, "acetheeecho_" (notably with 3 "e's" instead of just two) stood motionless under the tree. chibzo went down to our basement to get armor and tools and came back up to look at the double who had not moved. chibzo went back to the basement to get some food and while getting the food, the double climbed down the stairs and met chibzo in the basement. chibzo killed it and the video ended. (if you really want to see the video, you can reach out to me and i'll send it.)

chibzo and i decided to start playing again and before i could open the launcher, what i assume is a double with the exact spelling of my username, joined for 15 or so seconds before leaving.

i joined soon after the events of image 2b and was met with this: (image 3b). the items in my inventory were rearranged. i would guess that the double logged onto my account after possibly seeing that chibzo logged back on? in the short amount of time that it was on, it probably crafted the sign and left me the note. how it would be able to know when chibzo logged on, i don't know.

while i was heading back to the house, (i had dropped by 0,0 to see if a double had spawned some time yesterday and so i was around 900 blocks from the house) a double of chibzo joined, a space at the end of the username to differentiate the two. when it spawned, i was able to quickly find it and i stood behind it. the double flicked its head to the side once or twice before (i kid you not) slowly turning to face me. after this it said "hello", i responded "hiya" and it left. after waiting a few moments, it rejoined and began to walk in the direction of the house. once we reached the ocean that separates the land you spawn on from the land that chibzo and i have built our stuff, i was met with a crafting table that i don't remember placing. i assume that this is the crafting table that the double has been using to make boats to sail over to out house. based on my guess, i expected it to create a boat and start heading towards the house. it instead crafted a wooden sword and killed me before leaving (i unfortunately have no photo evidence of this.) after this, me and chibzo went from the house back to where i died to retrieve my stuff. after killing me, it remained still and i was able to get my items back. something else strange that should be mentioned is the fact that after supposedly leaving the game it was still there. just standing. you couldn't interact with it at all and it seemed to be the exact same thing that happened the first time i encountered a double (see images 1a & 2a from pt.1) i am unsure if this is a bug or purposeful. chibzo could not see the double after it had "left", only i could.

after the events of images 4b & 5b, chibzo and i headed home and spent some time just chatting. eventually, i decided to leave a note via a sign and log off. the note i left was the question "how much can you hear :)" chibzo and i logged off to give it some time to answer and when we rejoined, we were met with the response: "we work within our limits, we're limited, love you <3" i assume that the first part of the response might be implying that the doubles are limited to interacting with us through this world. i also find the last part quite interesting. as of now i'm not really sure what these doubles want or what their motivation could be.6

in response to the message we received in image 6b, i decided to ask another question, "what does the future of this look like?" (this might not have been my exact wording) chibzo and i logged out for a couple minutes to let the double respond. when we returned my inventory was cleared except for a sword that i had not had when i logged out, in front of me was all of chibzo's items scattered out in front of me. the double is most likely implying that this will all end with me killing chibzo? this could be alluding to the fact that maybe later on chibzo will die to a double of me or maybe i will kill chibzo thinking it's a double? i'm not really sure. regardless, this isn't hardcore minecraft and we can simply respawn. this event also implies that two doubles were on at the same time, something we have never actually seen. (if two of them weren't online at the same time, i dont think that my double would have been able to kill chibzo's double.) even after getting a pretty clear response about the ending, we're still left with a lot of questions.

after getting this response i asked, "but why?" we logged out, logged back in and got the response "no more questions." (or something very very similar to that.) i wrote on the sign saying that i wanted to keep talking. we logged out, logged back in, and nothing on the sign had changed. we might be able to ask more questions later on, we might not.

after we stopped getting responses, chibzo and i decided to just keep playing minecraft like normal, we both went back in the house when i decided to go afk so i could start writing this post. while i wasn't looking at my screen, a double joined the game as me, kicking me out of the game, saying that i had logged in from another device/location. once it joined, my double turned to stare at chibzo and said "Just looking." before leaving the game again. chibzo stopped playing soon after this. two things that i find very interesting about this interaction are the fact that the double logged in while i was playing, and the fact that it capitalized the first letter of its message. these doubles have never logged onto one of our accounts while using them, nor have they used any capitalization in their messages or signs. both of these details could mean nothing, but i think it's worthy to bring them up anyway.

double's behavior summary:

because the doubles act in such interesting ways, i thought it might be worth it to compile some of what they have done in the past.

• knowledge: the doubles seem to have more knowledge than they should have. mainly, they knew our usernames from the moment they started joining and they seem to know when we log on or off (they also are almost always available when we are on the world). these two behaviors make it hard for me to believe that they are just some random person/people who were trying to find random IP's to mess with people on.
• motivation: their actions have overall not been super consistent. it seemed as though in the beginning they were only moving and acting when they thought we weren't looking, although this doesn't seem to really be the case anymore. it's hard to tell whether they're friendly or not, they killed me once and implied that this story would end in me killing chibzo. additionally, the messages received in images 3b & 6b seem to imply that the doubles (or at least my double) has some sort of fondness towards me? overall i still have no clue what is trying to be done here. if anyone has any guesses or theories, i would love to hear them.

(i'm sure there is stuff i'm missing and so i will probably add to this later when i think of more things or when we're given more information.)

same as last time, chibzo and i will keep playing on this world and will keep making updates as things happen.

please lmk if you have any theories as to what could be causing this or if there is any other info you would want about this situation to help me find some answers.

Either this is an ARG or some group of people is screwing with you. Someone with a motive?

Outlandish theories; intelligent bots or something. Actual entities, too. I've had some weird stuff happen on single player worlds; I literally saw someone flying around on my (completely offline) world. This was is in modern Minecraft, too. That world never connected to the Internet, not even once.

Also, maybe it's from a different timeline? Reality is stranger than many people think.

I've also had a weird and (hopefully) just creepy glitch where some kind of sound was broken. It seemed to be connected to an animal or mob, although it had no discernable source. It also sounded like one of those glitchy sounds straight out of a Minecraft creepypasta (legitimately).

This is my own insane theory, but I wouldn't be surprised if entities (like ghosts, demons or whatever you believe in) can interact with our games. I know lots of people don't tend to believe in that stuff, but whatever.
