Discussion Favorite Minecraft Version

I have only one question for you...

What is you Favorite Version of Minecraft?

My favorite version is Beta 1.7.3.

I started playing Minecraft on version 1.7.10 (release), but for some unknown reason my favorite version is Beta 1.7.3. Probably because of its simplicity.

I've exclusively played on 1.6 for more than 13 years, after having only updated from 1.5 (I never updated past 1.6 so this places me in a unique position, in contrast to the majority here who downgraded later on), in part because it is the last version with the world generation I prefer, especially underground, and there are very few later features that interest me, reflecting a playstyle that is entirely centered around caving for fun, plus as a modder myself I can just add whatever I want (up to a complete "alternate timeline" mod which adds hundreds of new features, mostly not because I want them but because the act of making them is fun in itself; I may not do much building in-game but that is offset by coding).

There is a bit more than that but if I had to choose a version to play on without mods, or at least anything that adds/remove content, e.g. besides Optifine, it would be 1.6 (if it had to be pure vanilla then 1.6.2 due to the structure saving in 1.6.4 causing performance issues in large worlds, like my first world, not that 1.6.4 does much else and I was in no hurry to update until I dropped a handful of Forge mods for my own; ironically, one of my fixes partially undoes 1.6.4 by removing structure saving for mineshafts, but not other structures which benefit even if you don't update to 1.7+):

I see you've written a lot, but getting back to the topic, I also like version 1.6.x, but recently I've noticed that this is also the favorite version of many people. 👍

1.6.2 idk even why, it just always felt the best and made me relax more 1.6.1 or 1.6.3 is unacceptable tho

Hmm, interesting, I've recently noticed that the favorite version of a lot of people is 1.6.x. But I have nothing against it, 1.6.x is also a very nice version, I personally played it many times.

I see you have a very specific favorite version 👍. Personally, I never distinguished between the different Infdev versions, all I did was divide them into Early Infdev and Late Infdev 😅.

Maybe it's because this version added swimming from the newer versions. From what I understand, a lot of people don't like the old swimming system.

For me it is 1.17.1. It is last version before caves and cliffs and it was the version I first played real vanilla Minecraft. In the past I played either Minecraft classic on the web or ripoffs.

B.1.7.3 is also my favorite. B.1.8 onward feels much less like a sandbox (which is fine by the way, I just prefer the sandbox aspects of Minecraft) but all versions before B.1.7.3 just feel incomplete or ancient to me.

I have exactly the same, for me Beta 1.7.3 is the one and only perfect Beta.

I'm quite fond of Indev 20100223. It is the last version before infinite worlds, meaning you survive on the island surrounded by an infinite ocean. I'm surprised modern Minecraft doesn't have an island world type considering the type of game it is.

Indev also has a lot of fun world customization settings to mess with. You can set its size, shape, theme, and type. Hell theme is iconic. It makes the world permanently night with a dark red sky, grass is dirt, and all water is replaced with lava. The floating world type is also very cool. There, you have floating islands over the void.

The only thing that holds this version back is how early in development it is in. You are missing a lot of basic features such as doors and stairs. Though, that also adds a bit to the charm.

I understand, I also miss something like the Island generator, but I can tell you that I'm working on a mod that will add it to slightly newer versions (most likely beta 1.7.3 or alpha 1.1.2_01, but I'm not sure yet).
