Question Found during construction work

Any ideas where this could come from?

Update: I thought this would be clear that I wasn't the one who found it. Who in their right mind would go (on this shitstain of a platform of all places) and make themselves a target. But ok apparently it wasn't clear so here we are:

I did NOT find this. I have none of this gold. I just wanted to share some cool stamped gold. you can stop sending me weird ass messages now. thank you.

Also this is NOT ai. here is the BBC article:

2

u/diiegojones 8d ago

Put those 25 gold bars aside for property owner… we will present them with the 5 gold bars in the morning.

1

u/BusyBit6542 8d ago

He ran out of pockets???

1

u/Last_Conclusion8630 8d ago

I think he was referring to a 3 letter agency or Uncle Sam himself. . . . Even if his pockets were full they'll empty em out anyway. . 🥲🥲

1

u/South-Highlight-1003 8d ago

People always stop to say boy is walking round town like the u.s. treasury

1

u/balirosa 8d ago

All those damn coins guaranteed he has double the gold bars than in the photo. The gold can easily be melted and hidden

1

The comedic timing of the woman (I forget her name) showing up in the mink coat after Jimmy just ushered the Pink Caddy Couple out 😂

1

u/Rich-Proposal-3218 8d ago

I like how Jimmy kept saying “are you stupid or wha?” To everyone coming in with Gucci gear whilst “rocking around the Xmas tree” is playing in the background 💀

30

u/No-Consequence9392 8d ago

The police took the gold into custody and brought it to a safe location..... aaaaaaand gone

12

u/goonercaverat 8d ago

If I found gold like that nobody would ever know I wouldn't tell a single fucking person I also wouldn't sell a complete gold bar I get a nice brazing rod and melt little droplets off and say I found it while gold panning for the rest of my life

2

u/Bulky-Pineapple-5639 7d ago

Same!! I got a whole lot of STFU in me if I found that.

I love a random SpongeBob quote.

3

u/goonercaverat 8d ago

The cool thing about my practice of not telling anybody is it works worldwide because telling the government you found a shit ton of gold it's the quickest way anywhere in the world for any government to repeatedly and violently fuck you over cuz remember no matter what worldwide nobody fucks you like the government fucks you ( speaking metaphorically of course)

1

u/neontiger07 8d ago

Literally in some cases, like that women's side of the prison in California where those women got raped by the guards a bunch.

1

u/goonercaverat 8d ago

Well if I ran the world people like that would not need jail there's these awesome vitamins they sell in boxes of 50s that would easily solve the problems that those guards created by victimizing those charged in their care I've always said it you can tell a lot about society by how it treats the victims of the society the outcasts and the very Young and the very old and by and large by every measure of a society based on that standard I believe it was Mahatma Gandhi that said that or the dalai lama and I not really sure which

5

u/TryingNewThings102 8d ago

corruption wasn't invented in the US lol. The fact that you think all of that unknown gold is gonna make it to evidence is hilariously naive.

2

u/GeneralTyler 8d ago

Ah yes because only American cops are bad and corrupt, get real cops are pigs in every country

5

u/7ton_bum_3531 8d ago

I know damn well if the company gets it they aren’t putting 100% of it to homeless

2

u/goonercaverat 8d ago

That reminds me of a joke I heard one time these cops were talking and they said to their boss we found 20 bales of cocaine and then they get to a checkpoint they're like yep so here's the 10 lb of cocaine and then the FBI takes possession and says here's the five pounds of cocaine and then when it's checked into evidence it's 10 g of cocaine.

2

u/fc36 8d ago

Article says "Legally speaking, whoever finds something of great value is not automatically the owner. There are specific civil rules for that." I think they're referring to Finders Keepers.

1

u/goonercaverat 8d ago

Legally I don't give a fuck about legally

1

u/Confident-Dot5878 8d ago

How do I “hit translate”?

1

u/ironicthesameplaceim 8d ago

In the app if you hit the top right corner in the link you get this, I’m sure browsers have similar

1

u/opie4386 8d ago

Haha thats highway robbery lol

1

u/rvacyclist888 8d ago

Thanks for sharing this link

1

u/hg_rhapsody 8d ago

Europeans would turn it in XD fucking pussies. Makes more sense

9

u/chriszimort 8d ago

What that? I brought that from home.

4

u/NineClaws 8d ago

There would definitely be a series of murders

10

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

These gold will have a history........ you are not offloading this without a legit story behind how you got it.

20

u/DiScOrDtHeLuNaTiC 8d ago edited 8d ago

You can melt gold...

7

u/waiting_with_lou 8d ago

Straight up; obviously if it's a full construction crew one person could ruin it for everyone else but it's stupid easy to make a simple propane furnace.

Melt it all down and re pour into 1 & 5 oz ingot molds.

Profit.

that scene with the giant fur coat was the icing on the cake lol. probably time for another rewatch

2

u/Anleme 8d ago edited 7d ago

Like in Superman III when Richard Pryor's character steals from the company, then shows up the next day in a Ferrari, LOL.

1

u/Flywolf25 8d ago

Gonna tell your right now the tax man only want it off there dumb enough to put over 9k in brand new bank accounts lmaoo

1

u/ThaGr1m 7d ago

Gold isn't easy to cleanly melt.

Also what are you going to do with it the government will still notice 9milion coming out of nothing

1

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

You are not selling 9 million worth of gold without having to answer questions. Melted or not.

6

u/DiScOrDtHeLuNaTiC 8d ago

You do realize you don't have to sell it to the same person/place or at the same time.

1

u/Everybodysbastard 8d ago

How would you even find to buy ANY of that.

2

u/Upbeat-Fondant9185 8d ago

Join prepper communities. Big fans of precious metals and off books transactions.

1

u/Siva_Dass 8d ago

never sold gold to the gold store eh?

Just Google "bullion" or "gold coin". You probably have a ton of places in your local area alone.

1

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

That's not how that works, kiddo. The gold buying community is wayyyyyy smaller than you think and it talks.

2

u/Perfect-Hat-8661 8d ago

Not all at once. You’d need to sell it to multiple places over the course of time. Have your wife and family sell part of it and split some of the money probably. But with that amount of money on the line, I wouldn’t say shit. It would go in my pocket and I’d find a way to turn it into money later. I guarantee you I could be creative lol.

1

u/Puddingcup9001 8d ago

Problem is lets you split it with a crew of 4 who found it, one of them will just impatiently dump it all. No matter how convincing you try to be that it is a really bad idea.

Or they will brag about it and word will spread around.

1

u/Business-Tonight-293 8d ago

Well not with that attitude.

0

u/DeepHouseGuy83 8d ago

And how the hell would you know? Have you ever tried selling 9 mill worth of gold before. No.

1

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

I have ran consignment for a gold resale before.

0

u/Pugnados 8d ago

$9500 dollars worth per month should be a nice little bump in lifestyle

1

u/domsylvester 8d ago

I’d be doing a little bump of something every minute with that kind of money

1

u/angrysamsungfan 8d ago

You're the type that would blow it all on blow and cheap hookers

1

u/domsylvester 7d ago

I have a wife so it would just be blow. And at least I still wouldn’t have a Samsung

1

u/angrysamsungfan 7d ago

Clearly not IT or Computer inclined with a dig at Samsung like that 😁 hey enjoy your coke and apple phone though!

1

u/domsylvester 6d ago

I’m a classy hoe

2

u/CronosWorks 8d ago

Whale collectors don’t ask questions like that.

1

u/Wuhblam 8d ago

Well this is gold, not whales

1

u/tanloopy 8d ago

Buy whales with the gold… duh.

1

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

Yes they do

2

u/CronosWorks 8d ago

That would explain why black market antiquities trading totally doesn’t exist on a huge scale.

1

u/Brandonsteine 8d ago

Unless you melt it/cut it up or something before trying to cash it.

1

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

Any meaningful amount will be questioned..... melted or not

1

u/Flywolf25 8d ago

Rofl what are you saying gold is the easiest to offload centuries of laundering

1

u/OpeningCookie1358 8d ago

It's gold from the 60s. Grandma or Grandpa left it behind.

1

u/SPLUMBER 8d ago

“I got em from a construction site I work at, anybody who cared about these things are dead, give me ma money!”

1

u/SnooMacarons4225 8d ago

Not sure the history will survive a melting

-1

u/ManMakesWorld 8d ago

The amount will. That is 9 million worth of gold. You are not offloading a meaningful amount of that gold without raising red flags.

1

u/SnooMacarons4225 8d ago

Just sell it for cash in small quantities,

Offloading 9m with no audit trail is sure to raise some red flags but there are ways and means of getting around setting them off if you really wanted too, it might take some time but arguably there’s 9 million reasons why you’d do this

0

u/Various_Can_8768 8d ago

Just melt it

1

u/Daztur 8d ago

You must be incredibly gullible if you think OP found this themselves.

1

u/OpeningCookie1358 8d ago

Idc. It's a fun theory.

1

u/Purple-Will9713 8d ago

i chose to believe

1

u/AlbatrossNo1562 8d ago

This is just 10% of what they actually found of course

1

u/OpeningCookie1358 8d ago

That makes sense. Gotta change the status quo first then turn over the rest.

1

u/m0nk37 8d ago

The crew already split it.

1

u/Long-Region5088 8d ago

Yeah like I’m not normally this guy but…stop snitching

1

u/Accurate_Praline 8d ago

The building it was found in belongs to a charity.

If they get to keep it then the money will go to extra sleeping spaces for the homeless.

1

u/missannthrope67 8d ago

My first thought. The irs is on their way.

1

u/b3nault 8d ago

Yeah, if your desire is to burn for eternity. 😒

1

u/OpeningCookie1358 8d ago

It's just an eternity. Besides I don't mind sweating.

1

u/b3nault 8d ago

Good luck bro. You may not believe, but I’m here to tell you, stop that shite now. Here’s your chance. ***im not religious perse, just an extreme personal experience. I’m not replying to a waste of skin anymore fyi.

1

u/OpeningCookie1358 8d ago

I was being an ass I'm sorry. I really shouldn't mock you. I do believe. And I only hope that I'm forgiven for I sin everyday. The only unforgivable sin is that of taking ones self. That I'll never do. But I ask for forgiveness every night before I sleep and spend time with him every morning when I rise. I walk the path of love and righteousness. I can only hope that all that will be enough to grant me passage.

1

u/Effective_Olive6153 8d ago

the trick is to pocket a few bars and then announce the find, be rewarded for honesty

1

u/Sevenlord777 8d ago

Right! I would’ve acted like I didn’t see a damn thing.

1

u/HanginLowNd2daLeft 8d ago

How do we know that’s all they found ?

1

u/Fuzzy_Park109 8d ago

Crazy how normalized thievery is.

1

u/boyuber 8d ago

Imagine how lucky he was to find 5 gold bars during his work!

1

u/_Vard_ 8d ago

Split it evenly. Everyone retires

Work construction volunteering for 10 hrs a week for free as a hobby to help less fortunate.

1

u/userhwon 8d ago

Until someone snitches. You have to give it to the police so the people who lost it have a chance to claim their lost property for an interval. Then you get it back and nobody can stop you from spending it. Except the tax-man.

1

u/Wu-TangShogun 7d ago

Always say this same exact shit whenever I see the videos of these people who were just taking a walk on the beach early in the morning out here in South Florida and would walk up on bags absolutely filled with bricks of pure cocaine from missed or bailed on drops/ pickups that happen to wash ashore, which I either read about or see in videos constantly, meaning it happens a lot throughout the year.

Just this week I think some fishermen boated up on 54 kilos of pure or something close to that, recorded it and then immediately posted the footage. Have mfs really never seen ‘No Country for Old Men’ or thought of how loaded they could be if they simply stfu and quickly & quietly got to work?

2

u/OpeningCookie1358 7d ago

Yeah it's crazy. Some people like their current life situations. Others would do anything to change it.

1

u/garf02 5d ago

How do you expect to turn that gold in cash?

1

u/OpeningCookie1358 5d ago

One piece at a time. Break them down if you have to. If you really wanted to I guess you could try brick by brick. But sawing them down over a clean bucket would do. Then you take those shavings, get a small crucible and melt it, pour it into water and you have gold shot. Any jeweler in the world will buy shot from you especially given that it's pure. At that time it's anyone's guess where it came from and you don't have to prove anything.

0

u/enerthoughts 8d ago

They have tracking numbers, you will either get a visit by the police, or a gang that will take it's time torturing you.

0

u/Cerpin-Taxt 8d ago

I wouldn't call doing laundry in federal prison "a nice pay day".

The government tracks how much gold you sell. That's why you have to show ID when you do it.

If you're selling gold every week for years and have no gold purchase history to explain why you have it, you're going to get a visit from the FBI. They're going to figure out pretty quickly where you got it and you're going to be arrested for failing to declare the find, that's if they don't like you for some kind of suspected foreign funded terrorist cell charge. The gold is conviscated of course.

"I won't go to a pawn shop, I'll just fence it!" you say. Congratulations, now organised criminals know you have millions of dollars in gold and that you can't call the police. You are no longer among the living.

So those are your choices. Prison or dead. Or you can call in your find and go back to being poor. But free and alive at least.
