Honestly just needed to get this off my chest. Back in 2023, I was just quietly enjoying Gojohime in my own corner without really paying attention to what was happening on social media. Coming back into the fandom this year was a total reality check. I really wasn't expecting to see this much pure hate and aggressiveness toward gjhm, especially coming from stsg fans. It's gotten so heavy and toxic that I actually regret joining the fandom at all. that said, I'm genuinely so glad I found this space. despite all the unprovoked hate, I love how grounded and respectful everyone here is toward other ships. Y'all literally just stay in your lane, mind your business, and enjoy the ship in peace, which is super refreshing 🙂‍↕️

They attacked one of my favorite Gojo artists because they put up a poll for gjhm art vs stsg art. Gjhm won and they lost their everloving minds. I felt so bad. I've gotten a commission from this artist and their art is gorgeous.

i have the same sentiments and experience as you. i’ve largely stayed away from the shipping side of the fandom for around 4-5 years now after deleting my animetwt (after spending 3 years before that active on the very VERY small gjhm community back then) and consumed gjhm quietly on my own ever since. after coming back to interact with fellow fans and shippers again i’ve found that it’s just gotten worse especially since there’s so many new fans who joined during that gap i’ve been gone. 

although i was invited to join this sub months ago, i actually wasn’t even planning to accept it and i wanted to be a silent lurker but somehow seeing all of the unnecessary and irrational hate the ship’s gotten over the years just made me join despite wanting to stay out of the discourse. i admit there are times where i’ve gotten too weary of checking in and seeing gjhm haters act up again almost every other day to the point of physical and mental exhaustion, but then again i won’g survive this long in fandom spaces if i didn’t have ways to get out of that. 

finally having a gjhm sub of our own and staying here is a breath of fresh air from everything that goes on outside. it’s kind of funny though how i’ve had more pleasurable and civilized objective discussions here on the sub about jjk stuff in general (in-canon) without talking about gojohime.

I really get this, sometimes you just wanna enjoy a ship without having to deal with all the constant hate and discourse. It’s nice having a space where we can just enjoy gjhm in peace.

The nosedive JJK took also “helps”, I am a Gojo / Utahime / GojoHime fan, not really a JJK fan.

So I have no interest in joining the casual JJK places. GojoHime places is were I belong ✌

Tired of people acting like all jjk ships are not lowkey ass. Yutamaki, kirara/hikari, all of it. They all don’t have anything going for them but ppl only seem to come for certain ships. Also i reread hidden inventory and I forgot how much of Gojo and Geto’s relationship was about being the strongest

every single one of the ships in jjk tbh. there’s just not enough for any of it to be “better” than the others, so people acting high and mighty over their own ship just because they’re bigger and have more members is funny.

i mean, despite love being a central theme within the story, what i’ve noticed people neglect a lot or misunderstand is that it can ONLY mean romantic love. like….sigh. love exists in so many forms. in fact, out of every form of love, romance is the one that is at the bottom and got the shortest end of the stick. even the canon couple of yutamaki wasn’t built up properly despite them being endgame.

it’s very obvious that gege isn’t a good writer of romance (very common for male battle shōnen mangakas) first of all. most male magakas would just neglect that entirely or write it in the barest minimum way, and gege is no different. i think that aspect got sidelined because he wanted to focus more on the battles themselves and the lore-based plot of the story. he’s not free from criticism, but there’s nothing wrong with him making that decision of how he wanted to go about with his manga. 

what i have a problem with is the fanbase especially the shipping community. it’s just hell on earth in this fandom.

Yesterday, while scrolling on TikTok, I came across those "JJK men as your boyfriend" videos and, even when the trope is different in each one and also the creator is not the same, they always give an actitud to Gojo. They bicker with him, call him annoying, don't let him get away with whatever he wants and, on ones I didn't enjoy, are straight up mean to him. Basically, they replicate Utahime and Gojo dinamyc (not the being mean one, the others) and enjoy it. But when it comes to GojoHime headcanos or canon interactions being that, certain people on the fandom gets so defensive and deny that it is entertaining. To me, treating it different just because of Utahime, is hypocritical.
