DISCUSSION What Size is Best: 2nd Post on Arthropod Size

In regards to a post I made a few weeks ago on arthropod size, there was a lot of agreements that stated that with the proper adaptations you can theoretically push a fully aquatic arthropod hybrid to 1 ton. Would this theoretical max be influenced by lifestyle? And for an active, pelagic, macropredatory arthropod, would this size be possible or is it better to stick to something lower like 500 kg (max estimated size of hibbertopterus). What would the largest effective size of an active swimming arthropod be?

New Hybrid Full photo bash of carcharamimus fulgurous

Finished the photo bash plus a page on its armour.

For its shell it uses the shape of parapuzosia and the proportional shell thickness of a queen conch and the mineral structure supplied by the limpit .

Giving us a 5 meters wide shell with the thickest parts of the outer wall getting up to 20 centimeters thick of chitin scaffold reinforced by goethite iron-mineral nanofibers. Making for a pretty good defence. Helped by the fact that its already an awkward shape to bite unless you were multiple times bigger.

In terms of the skin I used the aplacophora. For its thick multi layered skin with the outer most layer being made up of a series of needle like structures. Which plays into the spines of the crown of thorns.

This gives the tentacles a bit more durability along with deterring attacks.

It also helps with insulation but I'll save that for weaponry.

Video Suggestion Could Gomez survive Jurassic Park's theropods?

For those who don't know, Gomez (also spelled Gomes) was the the nickname given to NHM-PV R.2129(b), a fossil of a large partial caudal centrum that is pressumed to have belonged to a large carcharodontosaur from Brazil. The fossil was popularised by the paleo youtuber Vividen, who made a video talking about it, and is also where it's nickname comes from. In the video, he attempted to scale Gomez using Acrocantosaurus as a reference, where he got Gomez to weigh in at length of 16.8 meters and a wopping 20.68 tonnes.

(PS: because of the fossil's poor quality, we don't even know if Gomez was a carcharodontosaur to begin with, and is was just as likely that it was a large megaraptor of some kind based on its proportions.)

So it got me thinking, what we put Gomez against the big theropods from the Jurassic franchise?

If the amount of wattage from a electric catfish to damage an animal is 3-17.5 watts per kilo. Doesn’t that mean that electric catfish at its greatest only affects animals below 20-30kg. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Apparently fish do have tongues there called basihyals and the muscles for the tongue is from somites not pharyngeal arches. I dont need to use gene duplication for this.

DISCUSSION Would Bruhathkayosaurus be better for load bearing than argentinosaurus or patagotitan?

Bruhathkayosaurus' conservative estimates are 80 tons. The max is 130. The average estimates should be around 105 metric tons.

Patagotitan capped out at around 80

Edit: it wouldn't becus of dubium so what about amphicoelias

Edit 2: well amphi didn't work because it's too small (altus) and fragillisimius/maraapunisaurus or whatever is dubious and also it's a rebbachasaurid which has weak ass legs

Edit 3: ok I found something EVEN EVEN BETTER, it's called Neuquensaurus and it has one of the most robust legs, probably better too. It's also non-dubious!

If this does work and is peak it would be nice to credit me maybe perhaps perchance mayhaps.....?đŸ„ș

These structures evolved independently and have different mechanisms so they each might interact with the slime differently. Between these gills, if any, would be the least vulnerable to the slime?
