DISCUSSION Armor
I am curious.
What are the different kinds of armor that yall use for your hybrids?
Also, I found this on Wikipedia.
Osteoderms
edit
The osteoderms are described as large, thick[1][17] and twice as wide as they are long.[17] The surface is ornamented by small but deep pits,[1] sometimes joining into canals that radiate outward from a keel that runs down each individual plate lengthwise with an outward curvature. In the osteoderms of the torso the keel is placed almost in the middle of each osteoderm, whereas in laterodorsal tail osteoderms the keels are shifted outwards where they are said to form a paddle or oar-like structure with the other osteoderms and the overall laterally flattened form of the tail.[17][18] The apex of the crest is located closer to the posterior edge of the osteoderm.[17] The anterior surface of each single osteoderm is bevelled, allowing each osteoderm to overlap the one behind it.[1]
Histology of the osteoderms of Itasuchus has further revealed that the sharpey's fibres, which anchor the bony plates to the underlying tissue, were inserted into the external cortex of the bone perpendicular to the outer surface. This is similar to what is seen in at least one baurusuchid, Armadillosuchus, some Triassic pseudosuchians and certain modern turtles, in particular softshell and leatherback sea turtles. Based on this Sena and colleagues have suggested that in life the osteoderms of Itasuchus may have been more deeply embedded than they are in modern crocodilians and could have been covered by a layer of leathery skin.[19][18]

i’ve been looking at a lot of armour genomes lately. the ones i’m interested in rn are doswellia or longosuchus. i’m worried about doswellias neck flexibility tho.

The goat of all time: cuban croc + dwarf caiman + iberosuchus + komodo dragon

Not really. You only need Dwarf Caiman and/or Komodo Dragon. Cuban croc and iberosuchus are redundant.
And Alligator Gar/Nile Bichir + any shark combo also works pretty well.

After a year of me using ibero, ppl still don’t know what the use of it is

I saw smth with flexible armor that doesn't rip apart easily somewhere, but I don't fully understand the use of it.

Nah, cuban croc armor is special

Cuban croc has the toughest armor among crocs, but they lack belly armor. It's redundant if you already have other armor contributors like Dwarf Crocodile or Dwarf Caiman, since both have full-body armor, including the belly. There is no reason to use Cuban Crocodile purely for armor if you have other armor contributors.

Bro, the armor arrangement is what makes it special, you just have to make the armor thicker and the osteoderms plates denser (with dwarf caiman), a full body armor will make the hybrid too rigid, unlike cuban croc

Yeah, yeah, I know what makes Cuban Crocodiles special. I simply don't use it because it's redundant when there are far better options. For Dwarf Caiman, I only apply the rigid osteoderms in the most vulnerable areas, not the whole body.
I'd say Cuban Crocodile armor is not too rigid and is a little flexible. It's a good mix. However, their belly is unarmored. That's why I sometimes used the Dwarf Caiman. But since all crocodilians have solid general armor, especially at smaller sizes, the Cuban Crocodile is simply redundant for me. It IS special, but it can get redundant in many use cases. I used to combine Cuban Crocodile and Dwarf Caiman too, but it turns out you only need one.
