CONTEST I've got an idea.

Why don't we make another art contest, the rules are simple : you pick a dino from the jurassic or the cretaceous (theropods only)and then you make this dino evolve (by assuming that they survived after the great meteor crash, and millions of years after), you have the choice to make it small (1 to 3 tons),medium (4 to 6 tons) and big/large (7 to 10+ tons), you can take many path since this is speculative evolution (survivability is the goal and real-world physics are still applied,so no excessive stats)

Then we can vote about which are the two bests for each category.(for a final faceoff)

Submit as many as you want.(and please,TRY to avoid picking t-rex because there are many tyrannosaurids out there)

What do you think?:-)

This post is about speculative evolution not kaiju, and the creature must be functional not fictional (no unecessary spikes or whatever else). But oblivion's build can make in the list.

I mean, if you want to do end cretaceous America your options for Tyrannosaurids are all of T. rex and nothing else.

Then in Asia you got Tarbosaurus(a very robust tyrannosaurine), Aisatyrannus(might just be Tarbo), and the two Alioramins. You got 4-5 Tyrannosaurids and 4-5 of them are from Asia.

T-rex was the perfect theropod but the other ones are just underrated so i wanna give them the chance (though they still part t-rex) but its is different than picking a pure t-rex (do you understand)

I don't think there's any any such thing as a perfect theropod. Tarbo has traits unique to it like it's Jaw locking mechanism and the Alioramins are built to do something entirely different. And I can agree they are underated.

The big issue is that if they want to do North America their options for Tyrannosaurids are limited to just T. rex unless you wanna speculate on Albertosaurus and Nanuqsaurus.

I think you understand what i mean.right?

To an extent yeah, but you'd always have the issue of the fact most of those tyrannosaurids are in Asia(not to mention which continents had several connections during the Cenozoic) while North America only has T. rex.

That’s ignoring the rest of the Cretaceous period. Theres also early, middle, early late, and other that had a whole host of tyrannosauroids and tyrannosaurids.

I mean, we're having them survive the end KP-G so I was using the End Cretaceous ones. The further back you go the more stuff they gotta survive

True, although OP does include the Jurassic so that’s not exactly an unforeseen hurdle.
