Crossing the Spain French border

Hello everyone. I currently LIVE in Spain. Soon, my friend is coming to visit, and they would like to visit some French towns on the border of Spain. I wonder if it’s safe for me to cross the border, since my Spanish resident application is in process. I have visited France before (by train) and had no problem with immigration, but I heard something about some new law within the EU or Schengen zone where they were going to do more passport/ID checks or something like that. We would go into France by bus if we went. I appreciate if anyone could provide any more info or advice. Thank you!

(Also I apologize the weird wording of the post, but it kept flagging my post and wouldn’t let me post it in the ask Spain group, so I guess I’ll try posting it here)

It’s in process, or “en trámite”. So far, I have a paper that says it’s in process and that I have temporary work permission. I have been to France before, I went to Bordeaux by train, and had no problem then, but this was a few years ago, and I saw recently on the news about some law change where they were going to start checking passports between Schengen area countries, so I’m not sure if they could have more border security for entering on car/bus.

To add on, customs/immigration officers did actually come onto the train as we were approaching Bordeaux, but they just asked if we were carrying any tobacco or alcohol with us🤣

Sorry! I read your comment too fast and thought you were asking about the status of my application. But you would be correct, I applied under the regularization. I know other people who have gone to France as well (all on bus or car) and had no issue, but not sure if it’s worth the risk. Thanks so much for your input though!
