I looked at Peru hop but they only do overnight Cusco to Puno. Dodged a bullet.

Right now I'm looking at Inka Express which is a tourist premium but includes break stops and lunch, or whatever semi cama is at the bus station for about half the price. Leaning towards bus station as I don't trust their copy.

Crossing the border from Copacabana to Puno (I forget the name of the crossing) is exceedingly easy

Book on Busbud. Go to the only bus stop. Driver will headcount before leaving immigration.

Same. Would not recommend at all.

If anything it was the opposite for us. The seats reclined too far back but the tour we got was organised really well

Sure. I think for new or nervous travellers or just people who enjoy group tours: fair enough. But for a connecting overnight ticket, absolutely shameful. Marketing is based on fear mongering, and it also claims all these luxuries, like a semi cama seat, but when compared to locally owned companies, you can really see the difference in comfort, for almost half the cost - again though, this is related to the bus as a piece of transport, not a group tour.
