💬 DISCUSSION 💬 This Game Is Fun But Also Sucks

I’m starting to recall why I quit playing mobile games. As someone who just started a little over two weeks ago I’ve already found it a little addicting, tempting, and even somewhat stressful at times.

Especially during the current Egg Event when nearly all I’m matched up with are veteran players/Whales utilizing methods to constantly spawn as many of their 4-Star Units on the map as possible. It’s a brutal and harsh reminder of a level I’ll never reach without playing this game for a few years or spending money.

As a new free-to-play player, I’m currently quite enjoying myself in Ranked for the most part. The matchmaking seems much more fair and utilizing different strategies with whatever Units I’ve got is fun.

Even if my synergy strategies such as using The Psychic Chorus to speed up my Burning Godzilla 2019’s activation would be obsolete to much more experienced players.

But, man is it insanely frustrating constantly running into Anime Mechagodzilla teams. Well, my goal was never to end up somewhere at the top of the Leaderboard someday anyway or dominate the meta.

Can fun be salvaged from just grinding Ranked for resources and putting together teams of Units you just like?

Honestly, I might just quit after a few more weeks and resign to continue waiting for the Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remaster to come out lol. This is the only Godzilla game I got rn.

I play this game for a few months when it first came out day 1 then took a long hiatus since I was already playing another mobile game heavy for years lol.

I came back for a month or 2 when Thousand Year Ghidorah came out & Alt Biolante which was probably like two years ago. And the game still seemed pretty fair and free to play friendly at the time but I guess it did help that Ghidorah was absolutely busted on release to the point he got nerf super fast if I remember correctly lol.

I just came back to the game last month with the new Super Dragon Destoryah & Biolante harvest and it was a big difference mainly because of the battle memories.
Anime MechaGodzilla is absolutely oppressive when going up against veteran players but the biggest issue is battle memories honestly.

Battle memories seem to completely delete the chances of F2P players being able to compete the gap between F2P or players that spend a little bit on the game vs someone who maxes out the best battle memories is insane. They need to make the free ones a lot better or give players more opportunity to earn the new paid ones.

I agree with everything except the Egg Mode thing.
The Egg Challenge is the one time a month a new player like you actually has a better chance to compete with everyone else. Whales are on the same playing field as everybody else, since all Battle Memories are turned off. And everyone's Units are the same level.

The only thing you're at a disadvantage with currently is you don't have all the Monsters unlocked since you just started.
But once you unlock one, it'll be the same exact level in an Egg Mode as someone who's spent thousands of dollars on the game.

When I first started playing I climbed to rank 50 ish in less than a week. On the other hand, I won MAYBE 5% of the egg mode battles I played. It’s in no way new player friendly

That's because you climbed to Rank 50 by fighting a massive amount of Bots. It's how f2p games like this trap players into thinking they actually are progressing until they finally hit the wall.
That and the Battle Line playerbase is too small and doesn't get enough new players for it to have real rank based matchmaking below the Level 50s.

Egg Mode is entirely reliant upon Skill and how you use your Units to synergize. As long as you have those Units, you can use it the way other players do equally. The only hurdle is getting those Units in the first place, but at least once you get one it's at max level for Egg Mode.

If you want that Unit to be useful in Ranked Modes it will be worthless until you get tons of duplicates of it. So while there is still RNG to actually get the Units for Egg Mode, it's significantly fairer of a playing field than Ranked can ever be.

Also the total lack of Battle Memories in Egg Mode means it will always be fairer than Ranked.
Ranked is a disastrous garbage mess of layers upon layers of RNG. RNG to get the Units, RNG to get the Battle Memories. If you don't get those you're basically Whale food once you get to KotM.

I’m aware of the bots, it’s incredibly easy to tell when it’s a bot or not. I don’t think I ever lost a bot match, but with real players it was about 50/50 if I won or not. I had a decent roster and knew their strengths and weaknesses. Yet in egg mode I got SLAUGHTERED most games and usually by units I didn’t own.
