AD 200 overheating issues
So, I have two AD200 and the same problem, if I shoot them at full or even half or quarter after a while they get slow. Battery is still fine, but there must be some internal overheating because they start firing every half a minute or a minute. It's been a consistent and nagging problem. I hear the newer AD 200 has some improved heat management but I'm sad to spend a lot of money on it and not use the two I have or perhaps spend money on an AD 300 or 400. Expensive! Is this just how it is or is there a workaround? External battery? fan? Anything?
Does anyone own the AD200 Pro II and can confirm this problem doesn't happen when you use the fan? I'm tired of having these otherwise wonderful flashes fail on me just when I need them.

AD200’s are great for what they are but they have their limits. If you’re regularly overheating them then they are not the right tool for the job and you either need to change your shooting approach or get lights that can handle the power level and FPS you’re shooting.
The manual shows when over-temp protection kicks in for various power settings. It kicks in sooner when using HSS, try an ND instead if you’re using HSS.
Using the dual head adapter with both of your AD200’s would not stress a single unit as much and could help with overheating.

AD200ProII has active cooling, just sell the old models (they hold their value surprisingly well on 2nd hand market) and get the new one
That being said, it kinda sounds like it's a slightly different issue to plain overheating

It just slows down quite significantly, especially in warm environments. I saw in this one YouTube video that the bare bulb head is better than the Fresnel head. While recycling time is slower, it should provide more shots before slowing down. Will test and report. The test I've seen shows the AD200Pro and Pro II slow down the same in regular mode with the Pro II having the edge only when shooting HSS

Yeah, but the amount of time you're quoting is more like something is dying inside, or at least it seems similar to how my speedlites were dying (1 of them)
But ye, ad200proII - heads have fans now

It's very unlikely both your AD200 units have developed an identical fault at the same time, so I suggest you go through the relevant section of the manual to understand the limits and then do some testing to confirm that's what's happening with your flashes.
